GOLF OUTING RESULTS
The Rotary Club of Canton held its 2017 golf outing on Friday, August 18, 2017.  It’s hard to say anyone was a loser between the great food and wait staff provided by Mission BBQ for lunch and the fun that was had at our venue, The Sanctuary Golf Club.

However, there were actual winners in the golf event, and those winners deserve recognition.  After the dust settled and all 70 golfers were accounted for, we had a winner:  in first place, based on a 'scorecard playoff' of three teams tied at 11 under, was the team of Don Peterson, Dave Grabowsky and Rick Taylor.  In second place was the team of Jeff Scott, Joe Gazzo, Mike Gazzo and Frank Leopold.  In third place was the team of Dave Beule, Keith Williams, Brad Hays and Charles Robertson. In fourth place was the team of Bryan Bober, Collin Garner, Dan Simmons and Dave Newberger.

The winner of the 50/50 drawing was Mike Gazzo winning an impressive $330.00!

Closest to the pin was won by Jeff Sirak on hole #2.  Long putt was won by Dan Simmons on the 18th hole.  The men’s long drive hole on #14 was won by Ben Franta. Long drive winner on hole #7 was won by Colin Garner.  Women’s long drive was won by Mary Sample on hole #14.

Finally, after a putt-off that also included Bruce Hale and Don Peterson, Bruce Schorsten prevailed in the Putting Contest, draining the final putt to win the use of a BMW for a weekend! A big thank you to Cain BMW for donating the car for this prize! The putting contest brought in $105.00!

And we have a surprise guest for the official tapping of the Oktoberfest keg!

This Oktoberfest is The Rotary Club of Canton’s largest fundraiser for our Charitable Fund, which helps fund our many local charitable efforts throughout the year: Summer Food Backpack Program for Canton City School students; RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards); Interact Club; Rotary Scouts; Junior Achievement; the Philomatheon Society; Habitat for Humanity ECO; American Red Cross (Canton); Cystic Fibrosis Foundation; scholarships for Canton City School students; Stark County Public Library; Canton Symphony Orchestra; Canton Calvary Mission; First Tee of Canton; and more.
