CONGRESSMAN BOB GIBBS WILL SPEAK THIS FRIDAY, JANUARY 22ND
   Bob Gibbs is a small business owner, founding Hidden Hollow Farms in 1976 and raising hogs in Holmes County, Ohio. He began advocating for Ohio agriculture in 1985 as a member of Ohio Farm Bureau Federation Board of Trustees and starting in 1999, served as Ohio Farm Bureau President for two terms. In 2010, Gibbs was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, winning reelection in 2012 and 2014. He previously served in the Ohio House and Ohio Senate. In both the Statehouse and Congress, Bob has been and continues to be a strong advocate for private property rights and regulatory and tax reform. During this time, Bob has been recognized for his leadership by winning several prestigious awards, including the “Guardian of Small Business” Award, Legislator of the Year Award from the Ohio Restaurant Association and Legislator of the Year Award from Agricultural Retailers Association. Bob resides in Lakeville, Ohio and has been married to his wife, Jody, since 1976 with whom he has three adult children.

FELLOWSHIP OUTING PLANNED FOR FEBRUARY 24TH TO A CANTON CHARGE GAME!
  Shawn Dougherty and Tom Clevenger have been working on a night of fellowship for Canton Rotarians! Join fellow family and friends of Canton Rotary at the February 24, 2016 Canton Charge vs Grand Rapids game! Come see exciting pro basketball right in your backyard!  Members will receive a special discount through this offer. Ticket pre-order is available through the Rotary Club of Canton.  The tip-off time is 7:00 pm.
 
Order deadline is MONDAY, FEBRUARY 15, 2016! Follow this LINK for the order form.
 
Ticket price is $16.50 per ticket (discounted from $21.50).  These seats will be located in Section 13 Rows H-K.  You may pay for your tickets by Cash, Checks (made payable to the Rotary Club of Canton), Debit or Credit Card. All sales are final!  Children two-years-old and older require tickets for admission to the arena.  Children under two must be seated on the lap of a ticketed guest.  Video cameras are prohibited at the Canton Memorial Civic Center.

ROTARY SCOUT WINTER PARTY

The picture below is from the Rotary Scout winter party at Belden Elementary on January 15, 2016. Scott Sandrock and I attended and passed out Rotary Scout sweatshirts to the students. Students enjoyed snacks and attended 3 stations including: making a  winter craft,  singing songs, and playing winter themed games.

   The Rotary Office received a "Thank You" letter from Gail McGovern, President and CEO of American Red Cross.  Gail wrote:

MARK YOUR CALENDAR FOR THE ROTARY CLUB OF CANTON'S FUNDRAISER, THE PANCAKE BREAKFAST
  This year’s Pancake Breakfast will take place on Saturday, March 19, 2016, and will again be held at McKinley Senior High School.  Members will once again receive 17 tickets to this event BUT the cost will be decreased to $50.00 per member! The event will run from 8 am – 1 pm.  We will again feature the “Pick Your Prize” raffle with many great prizes to choose from.
 
The Pancake Breakfast will include: Pancakes, Sausage, Orange Juice, Coffee and Milk.
 
The Cleveland Indian’s mascot, Slider, will be there for a meet and greet, the McKinley Jazz Band will play and the “Star Wars” characters from the Ohio Garrison of the 501st Legion and the Rebel Legion will be available to have your photo taken with them during the day.

URGENT....HOST FAMILY NEEDED FOR YOUTH EXCHANGE STUDENT!!
   Youth Exchange Chairwoman Amy Mustafaga would like everyone in the club to consider becoming the new Host Family for our Youth Exchange Student, Ella Vehmas.  Ella, who is from Finland, will need a new home beginning in mid January until mid June.
 
If you would like to become the new host family or you know of a friend or family member who would like to host this young lady, please contact the Rotary office at (330) 452-2882.  You may also contact Amy at (330) 760-4079 if you have any questions regarding becoming a Host Family.

WEEKLY MEETING NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
  At our weekly meeting on January 15, 2016, President Paul White welcomed the members to the meeting.  President Paul announced today's speaker would be Merle Madrid, Director of Legislative Affairs for Governor John Kasich. (The Governor was unable to attend as the speaker for the meeting).
 
Club Secretary Michelle Mullaly welcomed the following guests to our meeting:  Tim Ross and Kacy Bullard. 
 
The "Happy Bucks" news was then provided by the following Rotarians:  Fred Whittier was pleased to announce his mother-in-law turned 100 years old on January 12th and stated she is a wonderful lady and is doing fine; Ron Becker was very happy to announce his daughter is pregnant with the first grandchild; Suzette Matthews announced that her husband and fellow Rotarian Dan Matthews' family started their company 75 years ago on January 2nd.
 
Rotarian Shawn Dougherty took to the podium to make an announcement regarding the fellowship outing to the Canton Charge (see story above for more details pertaining to this event).
