 At the Rotary Club of Canton's April 15, 2016, meeting Vice President Amanda Tietze announced the newest "Rotarian of the Year".  This year's recipient was PDG/PP David C. Ewing.
 
Dave was introduced to the Rotary Club by his father, Stan Ewing in 1973. He has served on numerous club & district committees including: Foundation Committee, Interact Committee, Fellowship Committee, and District History Committee. Dave was PP of Canton Rotary in 1989-90 and DG in 1996-97. He currently has participated in the 100th Anniversary Celebration, Pancake Day, Wellness Fair, Interact, Canton Charge Fellowship event, and "Octoberfest", not to mention all the numerous other events in his past 43 years as a Rotarian.
 
Not only does Dave give his time to Rotary, but his resources as well. He contributes to the Rotary Foundation every year, is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow, Bequest Society member, & Major Donor. He was instrumental in establishing the Ohio Rotary license plate back in 1997, which has contributed over $120,000 to the Rotary Foundation. In 2002, he received the ‘Citation for Meritorious Service’ and in 2006 the ‘Distinguished Service Award’ from the Rotary Foundation.
 
 
 
Dave is not only involved in our local club, by very active within the district as well. He has served on many district committees and Rotary International zone 29 as the Assistant Regional Rotary Foundation Coordinator. Through his years as a Rotarian, Dave has introduced many new members to the Canton Rotary.
 
Being this involved in Rotary, Dave’s wife Penni has also been involved. Together, Dave & Penni they have hosted 3 exchange students, and attended Rotary International Conventions in Seoul Korea, Calgary, Canada & Glasgow Scotland.
