PACK THE BUS Run, Run, Run-Raiser going on now
Submitted by: Suzette Matthews

As you know, thousands of local kids are food insecure. Latest figures from the Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank report that the food insecurity rate for children in Stark County is 22%. Kids in our own community desperately need our help, they need a basic necessity--food.

Like last April and December 2017, when you so graciously donated to help us raise $7,000+ (2017 total) to fill thousands of BAGS/BACKPACKS for our PACK THE BUS FOOD DRIVE for kids in our community in need, we are asking for your support once again.

Because this is an effort that is near and dear to our hearts, I (Suzette Matthews), am dedicating my MARATHON RUN (26.2 miles), on Sunday, April 29, 2018, to this Rotary effort and to the kids.

This is truly where we, as ROTARIANS, SHINE and can make a difference in our own community.

So, HERE’S THE SCOOP on how you can be part of this worthy cause:

On Friday, April 13, and again on April 20, simply place your cash donation in one of the yellow “Run, Run, Run-raiser” feed scoops going around at our weekly luncheon meeting. You may also submit your donation to the Rotary office by 4:00 pm, Friday, April 20, 2018.

Our PACK THE BUS GOAL is to raise $1,750 to provide 700 kids/backpacks to kids in our community.

On average $2.50 fills a backpack. For just $20, you can feed 8 kids/8 backpacks; $25 feeds 10 kids/10 backpacks; $50 feeds 20 kids/20 backpacks; $100 feeds 40 kids/40 backpacks.

Your donation helps put food in the mouths of those who need it most—our local kids who are food insecure.

I am honored to run for our Club and this worthy cause and will be thinking of you and the kids every step of the way.

THANK YOU in advance for putting SERVICE ABOVE SELF and for your support of our local kids and the Canton Rotary 2018 Run, Run, Raiser PACK THE BUS Food Drive. We truly appreciate your help, and even more importantly, the kids appreciate your help. Thank you, thank you!
