In a letter dated November 9, 2016, the Rotary office received a "Thank You" from Darlene Legart, Executive Director of Hammer & Nails, Inc. Darlene writes:

"Dear Judge Werren and Rotarians,  On behalf of Hammer & Nails and the families we serve, thank you for your wonderful gift of $4,000.00. This gift will allow us to continue to assist struggling Stark County homeowners who need home and property repairs.

Our mission also offers volunteer opportunities for both youth and adults, who come with willing hearts and eager hands to bless our neighbors in need.

Our work for the next 6 weeks includes volunteers from Kent University, Central Catholic High School, First Friends Church, Stark Youth Network, two adult groups and many individuals.  Besides working at homes, they will help us with our year-end mailing.

On December 10 we will be in the Canton City Parks with RunCanton as hundreds of participants come in the evening to run/walk thru the park and enjoy the holiday displays.  At his event we will have volunteer teens from St. Thomas Aquinas, Central Catholic, Canton South and a large number of adults.  They will line the route and serve refreshments.

The volunteers, especially the youth, become more aware of the needs throughout the community.  They also learn valuable life lessons and even home improvement skills.

Thank you again for your faith in our nonprofit organization.  TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF MANY!"
