At our weekly meeting on April 1, 2016, President Paul White welcomed our members and guests to the meeting.  Rotarian David Truax gave the invocation.

President Paul then recognized those Canton Rotarians with April birthdays.

Club Secretary Michelle Mullaly welcomed the following guests to our "Appreciation Day" meeting:  Jim Molnar (guest of Paul Feaser); Lori DeWees (wife of John DeWees); Marie Hull Green (guest of Dave Roberts); Joyce Carr (wife of Bob Carr); Susan White (wife of Paul White); Jane McFadden; Dick Fisher (Dover Rotarian); Sara Sherer, Jon Sherer, Dan Sanders, Corinne Sanders, Ken McPeek, Cricket Boyd, Ted Boyd and Mary Ann Sherer (wife of Rick Sherer) - all guests of Rick Sherer; Erika Sherer and Vicki Cowley, guests of speaker Maxwell Sherer.

We had some very special guests in attendance.  They were the wives of our fellow Canton Rotarians who have passed away: Margie Franta (Ed Franta) and her guest Cindy DeMarco: Ryllis Guist (Harry Guist) and her guest Emory Hall; Ann Jones (Harry "Phil" Jones) and her guest Sally Pumphrey; and Alice Vignos (Tom Vignos) and her son, Terry Vignos.  Each lady was presented with a large orchid, donated by our speaker, Maxwell Sherer.

It should also be noted that Maxwell Sherer also brought small orchids for each place setting, as well as a medium size orchid for the centerpiece of each table.  At the conclusion of the meeting, one lucky person at each table was able to take the beautiful centerpiece orchids home!

The Rotary Club of Canton would like to give a very big "THANK YOU" to Maxwell Sherer and his employer, Green Circle Growers Inc., for their generosity in providing these wonderful orchids! The room looked amazing with all the beautiful color!!

The "Happy Bucks" news was then provided by the following Rotarians: PP Dan Matthews was happy that his wife and fellow Rotarian, Suzette Matthews, was halfway through her 20 mile practice run for a marathon; John DeWees was very happy that his wife, Lori, was in attendance; Tim Franta was very happy to have his mother, Margie Franta, at the meeting as an honored guest of the club; Craig Young stated he was not happy to be down to his last $2, but was happy to be that broke because his son was married the prior weekend!; and finally, on a "sad" note, Dean Gogolewski informed the members that the meeting was his last meeting, due to the fact he was taking a job at the Orville YMCA.

Rotarian Mark Rojek took to the podium to remind members about the upcoming Health Screen & Wellness Fair taking place on Saturday, April 30, 2016 from 7 am - 11 am at Mercy Hall Auditorium.  He asked every member to please take at least 2 flyers with them when they leave and help get word out to the public.
