At our weekly meeting on April 15, 2016, President Paul White welcomed our member and guests to the meeting.  President Paul asked everyone to keep Rotarian Ray V. Pelanda in their thoughts and prayers.  Ray has been in Mercy Medical for the past week due to shingles.  He is expected to be in for another week. Ray is in room #983.

Club Secretary Michelle Mullaly welcomed the following guests to the meeting: Connie Carosiellie (guest of John DeWees); Jim Molnar (guest of Rebecca Marchino); Penni Ewing (wife and guest of Dave Ewing); Latrice Virola (guest of Tena Wilson); Frank Forchione, Anthony Bertini, Richard Regula (Massillon) and Jim Dansizen (guests of P.S. Murthy).
 
The "Happy Bucks" news was then provided by the following Rotarians:
  • PP Dan Matthews - was very happy his wife and fellow Rotarian, Suzette Matthews, was running the HOF marathon and was starting off her fundraising.  Suzette is asking Canton Rotarians to consider giving a pledge/donation towards her marathon efforts. Suzette is then going to donate all monies collected to the Canton Rotary "New Member Project" (Please see story above for futher details).

  • PP Dave Ewing - was very happy to have lunch with his wife, Penni, and to be celebrating their 50th anniversary.

  • Lynn Hamilton - was pleased to announce in last week's edition of the Canton Repository section of "People That Matter" Canton Rotarian Frank Fleischer's father, Phil Fleischer, was spotlighted.

  • P.S. Murthy - was very happy to announce he has been a pathologist for the past 50 years; He was also pleased to announce that his son and daughter had a baby and his wife was in New York for the event. Dr. Murthy then jokingly stated since his wife was out of town he was spending a lot of time with his mistress "Samsung" (his TV set!).
Vice President Amanda Tietze then took to the podium to introduce this year's "Rotarian of the Year". She explained the process that she and her committee members, who are former "Rotarian of the Year" Paul White and Club Secretary Michelle Mullaly, used to choose this year's recipient. She then stated there were six Rotarians nominated and she asked each to stand and be recognized.  They were:  Steve Fettman, Dean Wallace, PP Denny Fulmer,  PDG/PP Dave Ewing, PP Dan Matthews, PP Fritz Spring and Bill Luntz.  The "Rotarian of the Year" award was presented to Dave Ewing (please see story above).
