At our weekly meeting on November 18, 2016, President Elect Amanda Tietze filled in for a travelling President Craig Young. President Elect Amanda welcomed our members and guests to the meeting. Amanda then asked everyone to keep Rotarian Jan Baker in their thoughts and prayers, as Jan is having some health problems.
 
Past President Rick Huetter gave the invocation.
 
Secretary Suzette Matthews welcomed the following guests to the meeting:  Mark Shaffer and Scott Barwick (guests of PP Dan Matthews).
 
 
The "Happy Bucks" news was then provided by the following Rotarians:
 
  • Frank Fleischer - in recognition for Kozmo's Grille being featured in "About Magazine";

  • P.S. Murthy - To thank the Rotarians for their support in the election and to encourage all Rotarians to help fight the heroin and opioid epidemic;

  • PDG/PP Dave Ewing - to recognize Scott Oelslager's work in passing a bill tp allow Rotary license plates. The Rotary license plate has raised $120,000 for the Rotary Foundation!;

  • Anthony Pierce - to celebrate Interact's first $58.00 raised;

  • PP Rick Taylor - thanked Frank Fleischer for his kind words about Kozmo's and the "About" write up;

  • PP Dan Matthews - to recognize his two guests, Mark Shaffer and Scott Barwick, both soon-to-be Canton Rotarians;

  • Max Barton - to encourage all to come support the 'Artistes Against Domestic Violence' celebrity bartender event at Picciano's Martini Bar's Tuesday 11/22/16 from 5 - 7 PM to raise money for the Dmestic Violence project, Inc.;

  • Robert Matthews - to thank everyone for their support of the Rotary Health & Wellness Fair last Saturday, November 5, 2016.  It was a great day and success.
PDG/PP Dave Ewing then took to the podium to give a presentation regarding the 100 Year Celebration of the Rotary Foundation.  Dave detailed some of the good works of the Rotary Foundation.  He also announced a current incentive: for each $20.00 donated, members will receive one chance to win a Paul Harris Fellow for themselves, a spouse, or a person of their choosing.  All donations must be made before January 1, 2017 to be eligible and must be placed in the designated envelope provided at each Friday meeting. The drawing will be held in early January.  In addition, for each $100 donated, the members will have a chance to win one of five Rotary Centennial Wine bottles. To celebrate this event, an assortment of cupcakes were provided for the Rotarians in attendance.
 
New Rotarian Theresa Blocher, from Kiko Realtors & Auctioneers, then assisted PDG/PP Dave with the auctioning of a commemorative bottle of Centennial Wine given to the club by District Governor Sieglinde Warren.  Theresa started the bidding at $100 and successfully got the final bid from PP Dan Matthews to $200.00!  All proceeds will go toward supporting the Rotary Foundation's humanitarian activities around the world.
 
PDG/PP Dave then had a Paul Harris Fellow recognition presentation. PP Rick Taylor was presented with his PHF+3 and Lynn Hamilton was presented with his PHF+1 pin.
 
President Elect Amanda then brought the members up to date on the Canton  Rotary Charitable Fund Drive.  To date, a total of $3,930.00 has been raised.
 
November Speaker Chair Max Barton then presented our speaker, Canton Rotarian Mark Clendenin, who spoke to the Club about Worker's Compensation.
 
Following Mark Clendenin's presentation, President Elect Amanda concluded the meeting by informing the members there is NO MEETING Friday 11/25/16 due to the Thanksgiving Holiday.  She also reminded the President's Advisory Committee there would be a meeting immediately following the conclusion of the Rotary meeting.
 
The following will receive a makeup for attending the Executive Board meeting held on Tuesday, November 15th: President Craig Young, President Elect Amanda Tietze, Vice President Michelle Mullaly and Secretary Suzette Matthews.
