At the weekly meeting on April 13, 2018, President Amanda Tietze welcomed the 61 members and 7 guests to the meeting.
 
Rotarian Tony Pierce gave the Invocation.
 
Secretary Suzette Matthews welcomed the following guests to the meeting: Cheryl Watt (speaker); Mike Sturdivant (Jackson Rotary); Gregg Schorsten and John Nicodemo (guests of Chris Burt); Richard Regula (Massillon Rotary); Tim Ross (Coshocton Rotary) and Paul Hervey (guest of PP Dan Matthews).
 
The "Happy News" was provided by the following: 
  • PP Dan Matthews - to thank Anthony Pierce for his agreement to pay $20 promotional fee for wearing a company logo hat to give the invocation;
  •  
  • Richard Regula - in honor and memory of Mary Regula. A celebration of her life will be held in Rotary Park soon. Date to be announced;
  •  
  • Robert Matthews - in promotion of the Health Screen & Wellness Fair on Saturday, April 21, 2018, from 7 am - 11 am at Mercy Hall Auditorium;
  •  
  • PP Rick Taylor - congratulating our guest and visiting Massillon Rotarian, Richard Regula, winning the prestigious 'Sandy'Sanders Award at the Massillon Weststark Chamber's Annual Dinner last Thursday 4/12/18;
  •  
  • Bill Liber - in promotion of the upcoming Annual Rotary Golf Outing on August 17, 2018. Plus - to announce the major prize for the outing ~~ a 2 year Lease on a new Lincoln Navigator MKZ!
  •  
  • Jim Blake - in celebration of his son running his 4th Boston Marathon on Monday, April 16, 2018.
Suzette then took the opportunity to inform the members she was running the Canton Marathon. She stated she had collected $404.00 in donations from the April 6th Rotary meeting. The donations collected will benefit the Canton Rotary "Backpack" Program. (*See story above);
 
President Amanda then announced the following:
  • the "Uneventful" Raffle is underway and tickets are available for purchase (*See story above);
  • this was the last day to vote for Rotarian of the Year;
  • please take an opportunity to vote for the following District Awards - "Unsung Heroes" - people who do incredible things, often behind the scenes; "Early Rotary Career" - to recognize relatively new members; "Let's Have Some Fun" - to "gently" tease and embrace member and their quirks. Oktoberfest Co-Chair Don Peterson informed the members things were coming together for this year's "Oktoberfest" event and the committee will be in need of volunteers soon.
 
April Speaker Chair Chris Burt then introduced the speaker for the day, Cheryl Watt. Cheryl is the PGA Golf Professional at Skyland Pines Golf Course.
 
President Amanda concluded the meeting with the following announcements:
  • next week's speaker will be Debbie Rundlett "Leader as Poet & Prophet";
  • we are in need of an Invocator for the April 27th and May 18th meetings;
  • we also need a Greeter Leader for the month of June.
The following Rotarians turned in a makeup during Friday's meeting: Ernie Schott (East Canton); Mark Clendenin (2 - Plain); PP Dan Fuline (6 - District Military Family Center).
