NEW DUES STRUCTURE FOR THE 2017 - 2018 ROTARY YEAR

Dear Fellow Rotarian,

This letter is to notify you of several recent changes regarding your Rotary dues and meal costs.

Due to the steady decline in membership, club expenses have exceeded incoming dues for the past several years. The Rotary Board has worked diligently to reduce costs as much as possible and still bring the excellent quality that Canton Rotary has maintained throughout our 102 year history. To eliminate this deficit, the board approved a $30 increase in membership dues for all active members at the recent May 18th board meeting. The goals and plans set by the Board of Directors for the next couple of years are ambitious and this increase is needed to bring those goals to fruition and further grow our club membership and local activities.

At the same May 18th board meeting, the board also voted to approve the following changes in meal costs beginning July 1, 2017:

  • Pre-paid meals will be $12
  • Pay at the door meals will be $15

The decrease cost for pre-paid meals is to encourage members to pay in advance for meals. Pre-payments reduce the costs of weekly credit card processing fees and help to meet the guaranteed meal count that is given to the caterer each week. Members that prepay for meals will only be charged for 45 meetings that will be held this year. Members pre-paying dues and meals will see an overall reduction in the total annual cost. For example: A member that pays yearly dues and meals in advance will still receive the $50 dues discount, the reduced meal cost of $12 and reduced number of meals. This is a savings of $106 per year versus the current structure.

In addition to these changes, the board also agreed to offer a monthly payment plan for members prepaying for dues and meals. This will be a set amount charged to your credit card each month. For example: yearly dues with discount + meal cost at $12 = $820 per year divided by 12 months would be a monthly charge of $68.33 per month. To take advantage of this option, please mark the appropriate box on your invoice and fill out the credit card information.

We will continue to offer active excused and new member dues rates for those who qualify. If you would like to pay for your dues and/or meals quarterly or semi-annually, have questions regarding your invoice or payment options please contact the Rotary office at 330-452-2882.

On behalf of the Board of Directors and the Rotary Club of Canton, I want to thank you for your continued support and membership. Our community benefits greatly from your involvement in Rotary.

Sincerely,

Amanda Tietze
President-Elect

ANNUAL GOLF OUTING SCHEDULED FOR FRIDAY, AUGUST 18TH AT THE SANCTUARY GOLF COURSE
On Friday, August 18, 2017, the Rotary Club of Canton will host its annual golf outing at The Sanctuary Golf Club located at 2017 Applegrove Street N.W., North Canton.  Each year the outing brings more than 75 golfers together from many local Rotary Clubs to participate in friendly competition, leaving only one Rotary Club with bragging rights for the next year.  This is a great day to bring guests or prospective members to see what Rotary is all about and meet some of the great people that are involved with Rotary.

As in the past, the golf outing will take the place of our regularly scheduled Friday meeting.  This means all Canton Rotarians are welcome to come for lunch, even if they are not planning to golf.  The cost for your lunch will be $15.00. Lunch will be served at noon with a shot gun start at 1:00 pm.

After lunch, those golfing will join their foursomes and participate in a scramble-format golf tournament.  Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers in the scramble and for the longest drive, closest to the hole, and longest putt.

There will also be a putting contest, with the winner taking a BMW home for the weekend, courtesy of Cain BMW.
