At our weekly meeting on April 28, 2017, President Craig Young welcomed our 75 members and 13 guests. 
 
Rotarian Dave Schrade gave the Invocation.
 
Secretary Suzette Matthews welcomed the following  guests to the meeting: Tommy Sancic and Kris Young (speakers); Anne Richards (guest of Frank Fleischer); Steve Deuble (guest of Bruce Schorsten); Mandi Sancic, Shirley Pruett and Jerome Pruett (guests of speaker); Andrew Lamppa (guest of Kurt Goodenberger); Matthew Franta (guest/son of Tim Franta); Lori Nickels, Delei Wade, Rya Wade, Keshawn Gadison (Character Champs and Counselor).
 
Suzette also reminded everyone who was not in attendance at last week's meeting that she and PP Denny Fulmer were running the Hall of Fame 1/2 Marathon. They were asking for donations for their efforts to help support the Run, Run, Run-Raiser: Feed The Kids Backpack Program. (*See story above for results of their efforts);
 
The "Happy Bucks" news was then provided by the following: 
  • $1:  VP Michelle Mullaly - in celebration of her oldest son who got a paid summer internship and her other son who scored a 35 on the ACT;
  •  
  • $1:  PP Dan Matthews - in celebration of his wife, Suzette Matthews, running the HOF 1/2 Marathon on Sunday, April 30, 2017;
  •  
  • $1:  Joe Niamtu - in celebration of his son returning from South Korea;
  •  
  • $1:  Bruce Schorsten - in celebration of his special guest, Steve Deuble;
  •  
  • $1:  Dave Beule - in honor of Cleveland Browns getting 1st pick in the NFL Draft on Thursday, April 27, 2017, and not messing it up;
  •  
  • $1:  Jerome Pruett - in celebration of his 50 year wedding anniversary with wife, Shirley;
  •  
  • $1:  Robert K. Matthews - in recognition of the Canton Rotary Health & Wellness Event on Saturday, April 29, 2017.
Rotarian Mike Brown introduced the Character Champions for the month of April. They are Rya Wade and Keshawn Gadison (*see stories above in regard to these two outstanding students);
 
PDG/PP Dave Ewing (sponsor) then took to the podium to introduce a new member to the Rotary Club of Canton, Carl Campbell (*please see story above for bio on Carl);
 
Rotarian Bruce Hale, as sponsor, then took the opportunity to introduce a new member to the Rotary Club of Canton, Kevin Heraghty (*please see story above for bio on Kevin);
 
Former Canton Rotarian Jerome Pruett filled in for a traveling Speaker Chair Nick Perini and introduced the speakers for the meeting, Tommy Sancic and Kris Young, from Olde Wood.
 
President Craig concluded the meeting by thanking the speakers and announcing next week's meeting will feature speaker Harvey J. Reed, Director of the Ohio Department of Youth Services.
  • Next week's meeting will also be the "Appreciation Day" meeting.  We ask that you contact the Rotary office no later than Tuesday, May 2, 2017, if you are planning on bringing a guest with you.
