At our weekly meeting on January 27, 2017, President Elect Amanda Tietze filled in for a traveling President Craig Young.  PE Amanda opened the meeting by welcoming the members and guests.
 
Rotarian Tony Pierce gave the Invocation.
 
Secretary Suzette Matthews welcomed the following guests to the meeting: Peter Taflan (guest of Pete Taflan); Deb Robinson, Stephen Weingart, Paula Calhoun and Pat Roberts (guests of Sharon Sirpilla); Tyler Schrock (guest of Paul White); Raquel Raderchak (guest of Dan Matthews).
 
The "Happy Bucks" were provided by the following:  
  • Tony Pierce - in celebration of getting married on January 7, 2017 and learning that he and his new wife will be welcoming a new baby girl in June 2017;
  •  
  • Suzette Matthews - to highlight next Friday's special speaker, Jon Husted, Secretary of State for Ohio, and to encourage Rotarians to bring a guest.  Please RSVP your guest to Lauri Coy for planning purposes;
  •  
  • Tena Wilson and Mark Rojek - donated $20.00 to the Happy Bucks to recognize the "special" hand sanitizer PP Paul White provided to Tena as a welcoming gift.
Rotarian Steve Fettman then made an announcement letting members know of an upcoming fundraiser event to benefit the Philomatheon Society of the Blind. The event will be held on Monday, February 13, 2017 at Taggarts Ice Cream Parlor located on Fulton Road N.W., Canton. A portion of every sale that day will be donated to the Philomatheon Society in the name of our Rotary Club. Thank you, Ernie!
 
Vice President Michelle Mullaly then took to the podium to do the first ever drawing for the "Unevent" Raffle.  Rotarian Ernie Schott graciously drew the winning tickets from the tumbler and office Administrator Lauri Coy helped disburse the prizes to the winning ticket winners.  *See story above for the winners from last week's drawing.
 
President Elect Amanda then brought the members up to date on the Charitable Fund Drive.  To date $10,197.50 has been raised.
 
January speaker chair Sharon Sirpilla then introduced the speaker for the meeting, Nate Phinney, Provost from Malone University.
 
President Elect Amanda then concluded the meeting by reminding everyone that next week's speaker will be Secretary of State Jon Husted.  We will be meeting in the Ballroom at Meyer's Lake for this meeting and if you are bringing a guest, please contact the Rotary office and let them know.
