 John's practice focuses primarily on estate planning and administration, civil litigation, family, and corporate law. He is former managing attorney of the firm.
He is a member of the American, Ohio State and Stark County Bar Associations, Fellow of the American Bar and Ohio State Bar Foundations.
John is admitted to practice in Ohio courts and the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Ohio.
In addition to John's distinguished legal career, he also has made quite a name for himself in the Stark County community as an amateur historian, speaking to hundreds of civic, educational and community groups about the history of Stark County. He draws his anecdotes about the early days of the county from The Stark County Story by E.T. Heald, volumes 1-6.
John joined Day Ketterer Ltd. in 1966.

The Rotary office received a "Thank You" letter dated April 22, 2015, from Maureen A. Fraser, Vice President of Field Management of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Maureen wrote:
"To Canton Rotary Charitable Fund: On behalf of all people touched by cystic fibrosis, I want to thank you for your support of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Your generous gift will help us continue to blaze new trails in CF drug development and research, and fund the search for a cure.
Gifts like yours are essential as we work to sustain the momentum of recent advances in CF research and care, and accelerate our efforts to reach our ultimate goal.
Nearly every CF drug available today was made possible because of Foundation support and the generosity of donors and friends across the country. Your donation ensures that we are able to continue exploring cutting-edge research that could one day lead to a cure. Together, we are transforming the face of this disease from one of despair to one of hope.
Through our efforts, the life expectancy of a child with CF has doubled in the last 30 years. For the first time ever, a drug is now available to treat the underlying cause of CF in a small group of people who have the disease.
While we have made real progress, our work is not yet done. The lives of people with CF are still being cut far too short every day. We will not rest until we find a cure.

 At our weekly meeting on April 30, 2015, President Tom Clevenger welcomed all of the Rotary Scouts to the meeting.
Past President and Chairman of the Rotary Scouts, Scott Sandrock, took to the podium and gave a brief introduction of all the things the Rotary Scouts have been doing throughout the year.
Club Secretary Amanda Tietze then welcomed the following guests to our meeting: Nathan Hopper and Christian Tietze.
The "Happy Bucks" news was then provided by the following Rotarians: Scott Sandrock was happy the Scouts and Teachers could join us. Scott also was happy for President Tom who was retiring after 42 years; CC Childs was happy because her grandson was turning 15 that day.
The following Rotarian turned in makeups during Friday's meeting: Ernie Schott (Canton South and East Canton).

One of my favorite parts of a Rotary convention is the House of Friendship. In Chinese, we say: 有朋自遠方來，不亦樂乎. "To have friends come together from faraway places is a wonderful thing."
At the 106th annual Rotary International Convention, 6-9 June, the House of Friendship will reflect the excitement and the diverse blend of cultures of São Paulo, the host city.
In between general sessions, you can relax and enjoy all that Brazil has to offer – sample the cuisine, browse locally made gifts, and take in top-quality entertainment. You also can get ideas for service and find partners at booths showcasing Rotary projects and Rotarian Action Groups.
And best of all, you'll have the opportunity to spend time with old friends and make many new ones.
The House of Friendship is a wonderful place to bring your convention guests – your family and your friends from home. By attending conventions with me, my family experienced the true internationality of Rotary. Eventually my wife, Corinna, and all three of my children joined Rotary clubs.
You and your guests will want to be sure to come early for World Water Summit 7, on 4 June, sponsored by the Water and Sanitation Rotarian Action Group, or for the Rotary Peace Symposium, 4-5 June.
This year we are honored that Dr. Oscar Arias, former president of Costa Rica, will be the keynote speaker at the Rotary Peace Symposium. Arias received the Nobel Peace Prize for brokering a peace agreement that ended the brutal civil wars in Central America.
Other events 4-5 June include the Rotaract Preconvention Meeting, the International Institute, and the Youth Exchange Officers Preconvention Meeting.
When the convention is over, spend time exploring all that Brazil has to offer – pristine beaches just a few hours away, the excitement and glamour of Rio de Janeiro, and the wonders of the Amazon rain forest.

 Mother's Day is a holiday celebrated annually as a tribute to all mothers and motherhood. It is celebrated on various dates in many parts of the world. Although the origins of the holiday dates back to the times of the ancient Greeks and Romans, the modern form of the celebration of Mother's Day in the United States began in the early 20th century.
It was first celebrated in 1908 in Grafton, West Virginia, when Anna Jarvis held a memorial for her mother Ann Reeves Jarvis who, in turn, many years earlier had founded Mothers' Day Work Clubs in five cities. Anna Jarvis began a campaign to make the Mother's Day a national holiday and she succeeded in 1914, when the U.S. President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed the second Sunday in May a Mother's Day.
