Mr. Fleiner is the Chief Executive Officer of LG Fuel Cell Systems Inc. (LGFCS), which includes business operations in the US, United Kingdom, and South Korea.  LGFCS is jointly owned by Rolls-Royce plc. and LG Group following an investment by LG in June of 2012.  Prior to his current assignment, he was the Chief Executive Officer of Rolls-Royce Fuel Cell Systems Inc. where he was responsible for leading the majority-owned subsidiary of Rolls-Royce plc.  Mr. Fleiner brings to LGFCS 25 years of general management, sales, marketing, and business development experience in and around the energy industry.  

Prior to joining Rolls-Royce, his most recent assignment was Vice President at IdaTech (Developer of PEM Fuel Cell Systems) located in Bend, Oregon, where he oversaw sales, business development, and marketing. From 1998 thru 2001, he was Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing at Enermetrix, a start-up company developing software and services for the deregulating gas and electricity markets in North America and Europe.  From 1996 thru 1998, Mr. Fleiner was Petroleum Industry Segment Manager at Micron Communications, a subsidiary of Micron Technology, where he led successful efforts in global marketing and sales of retail fueling systems.  He also spent nine years at General Electric with GE Power Systems, GE Lighting and GE Capital.
 
Mr. Fleiner serves as a director on the boards of the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce, Stark Development Board, and TeamNEO.  The primary focus of these activities is to increase economic development in Northeast Ohio.
 
Mr. Fleiner earned his Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.  He has been happily married for 24 years, and has two daughters who are 18 and 15 years old.

At our weekly Rotary meeting on August 8, 2014, these Canton Rotarians provided "Happy Bucks" news to the members:  Rick Taylor asked any member who is interested in volunteering for Junior Achievement  during the United Way Day of Caring Septmeber 12th to visit the United Way website or JAonline.org.; Mark Rojek announced he is "officially married" and his new step-daughter just had a baby girl which now makes him a grandfather; our newest member, Rick Eicheldinger, announced he and his wife are expecting their first child in November, a little boy. 

Club Treasurer Dave Schrade then welcomed the following guests to our meeting:  Mandy Pelger (spouse of Canton Rotarian Drew) and new baby, Connor Pelger; Dave Whilford; Eric Smer; and Stacey Giammarco

August Birthdays were celebrated and chocolate cake was provided to those members who admitted to having a birthday this month! 

Golf Chairman Nick Perini asked for members to get their four-some or individual golf sign-ups in soon since we were only two weeks away from the event. 

Rotarians turning in make-up slips were:  Terri Barry (Massillon); Bobbi Montenegro. Makeup's were provided to the Golf Committee members for attending the golf meeting at John's Bar on August 6th.  They were: Nick Perini, Dave Schrade, Sharon Sirpilla, Mike Eberhart and Drew Pelger.

At our weekly meeting on August 8, 2014, Club Treasurer Dave Schrade introduced our newest member, Rick Eicheldinger, to the Rotary Club of Canton.  Rick's sponsor is Rotarian Dave Schrade.
 
Rick Eicheldinger and his wife, Sharon, are originally from just outside of Buffalo, NY.  Rick completed his bachelor's degree at Hobart College in 2006 and his master's degree at Kent State University in 2011.  He also holds a Certified Six Sigma Green Belt designation from Villanova University and is a Chartered Retirement Plan Specialist awarded by the College for Financial Planning.  Job opportunities brought Rick and Sharon to Canton three years ago and they currently reside in the Historic Ridgewood neighborhood where Rick serves as Vice President of the neighborhood board.  Also an active volunteer in Junior Achievement and a former teacher, part of Rick's passion is educating people in a way that leaves them better prepared to tackle their futures.  That passion led Rick to his profession as a Financial Advisor with the RCY & D Wealth Management Group of Merrill Lynch.  
 
Outside of work Rick enjoys catching a movie with his wife, reading, going to the gym and continuing to build an extensive bourbon collection. The couple have two dogs, an American Bulldog named Layla and a Dogue De Bordeaux named Napoleon.  The are expecting their first child, a baby boy, in late November.

At our weekly meeting on August 8, 2014, Vice President Craig Young introduced our newest member, Bruce Hale, to the Rotary Club of Canton. Bruce has been an Associate Member of the Rotary Club of Canton since September 27, 2013.  Bruce's sponsor is Rotarian Craig Young.
 
Bruce is the General Manager of JayMac Body & Frame, Inc., one of the Young Truck Sales Companies. JayMac is a commercial vehicle body and frame repair shop and serves the truck, bus, and fire equipment industries.
 
Bruce lives in Green with his wife Barbara and three teenage children, Jonathan, Marissa and Amanda.  Bruce and family enjoy water skiing, track and cross-country, and salt water reef aquariums. Bruce is also a member of the Western Reserve Blacksmith Association.
 
Bruce grew up in Canal Fulton and attended Northwest where he was President of the National Honor Society.  He also was a track and cross country runner and competed in several state meets.
 
After graduation, Bruce received an appointment to the U. S. Naval Academy in Annapolis from the Hon. Ralph Regula.

President Tom would like to announce that our Youth Exchange Student from Brazil, Luiz Guiherme Morgado da Cunha, will be arriving on August 20, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Akron-Canton Airport.  He would like to see a contingent of Rotarians at the Akron-Canton airport to provide a warm Canton Rotary welcome.  Please make every effort to be part of this "Welcoming Committee"!
 
Luiz will be attending North Canton High School and we hope to have Luiz and his host family attend an upcoming Rotary meeting so we all may get to meet this young man from Brazil.

Just as a reminder, if you have signed up for the annual golf outing slated for Friday, August 22nd at Tam O'Shanter but have not yet paid your $50.00 entry fee, please do so.  A change this year is a request for all participants who are playing golf to pre-pay.  You may contact the Rotary office and provide your credit card information or provide a check in the mail or at Friday's meeting.
 
Also, if you indicated you or your company would like to be a sponsor and would like to have a sign prepared and displayed at one of the holes please provide your payment of $75.00 to the Rotary office.
 
For those members unfamiliar with this event, you do not need to participate in the golf outing to attend the regular Rotary meeting which will be held at noon at Tam O'Shanter Golf Course prior to the golf outing.  You may attend the meeting and still purchase a lunch for $12.00 if your meals were not included and paid for with your dues.

Sign-up sheets are available at Friday meetings or you may access this link to fill out your foursome.  Please return your sign-up sheet to Golf Chairperson, Nick Perini or to the Rotary office.

We will be featuring Old Carolina Barbecue for lunch this year! Lunch begins at 12 noon, modified shotgun starts at 1:00 p.m.

The cost is $50.00 per person for Rotarians and guests.  Cost includes lunch, 18 holes with a cart, and beer and beverages on the course.

All skill levels welcome and of "course" it’s a great time to bring a prospective member. Don't forget this is our weekly meeting with a whole lot of fun added!
