-Take I-77 South to US-30 East
-US-30 East to OH-21 North
-OH-21 North to bear right at Lillian Gish Blvd exit

-Turn right on Federal Blvd (behind Rite Aid)

The traditional joint rally of the Rotary Clubs of Canton and Massillon prior to renewal of the ancient football rivalry between the Bulldogs and Tigers will be held Friday AT MASSILLON!!
The opposing head coaches will introduce a contingent of star players from each respective team. The Mayors of Canton and Massillon will be in attendance as well as distinguished members of each school.
We have wonderful news coming out of the Rotary International Youth Exchange Program! Canton Youth Exchange Chairwoman Amy Mustafaga relayed news regarding our very own Canton Rotary Youth Exchange Student, Luiz Guiherme Morgado da Cunha from Brazil, (everyone calls him Gui -pronounced Gee).
On Gui's District application he stated he was hearing impaired. Upon finding out about Gui's situation, Amy, who is a licensed hearing aid specialist for Beltone, gave Gui a hearing test. Amy then referred Gui to Dr. Sheryl Figliano from Boardman Rotary, who fitted him with hearing aids at no cost. For the first time in his life Gui can hear his own voice, and he no longer needs to read lips to hold a conversation. Gui is thrilled with this new development and his host family and friends find it much easier to communicate with Gui.
Thanks to generous and giving Rotarians and their dedication to "Service Above Self", a life-altering difference has been made to this young man's life. We hope to have Gui attend one of our meetings so he may relay all of his newfound experiences.
President Tom and the Rotary Club of Canton Board members are pleased to announce a new endeavor to our regular Rotary meetings. Following in the footsteps of Downtown Canton's "First Fridays", the Rotary Club of Canton will begin having "FIRST THURSDAYS" beginning in the month of December.
What does this mean to you as a Canton Rotarian? This means an opportunity for members who may have difficulty attending on Friday to participate and have fellowship on a THURSDAY.
A few years ago a survey was presented to the membership asking for input on a "Change of Venue vs. Change of Meeting Day". This survey indicated members were interested in both of these occurrences taking place. To make the transition go smoothly, it was decided at that time to begin the process with the "Change of Venue".
The Board members are excited to begin the next phase of this survey which will help promote membership and attendance by offering one meeting PER MONTH be held on a Thursday. Beginning in December, instead of meeting on Friday, December 5th we will instead have our regular meeting on THURSDAY, DECEMBER 4, 2014. We will still meet at Meyer's Lake Ballroom at 11:45 a.m.

Attention all Military Veterans...we would like to recognize all of our Canton Rotarian's who are military veterans at the November 7th meeting.
If you would please contact the Rotary office (330) 452-2882 and submit to Lauri or Barb your branch of service as well as the number of years you served, they will then forward this information to Rotarian Jim Blake who is working on a presentation honoring our military veterans.
This information must be received in the office NO LATER than November 3, 2014.
Past President Mike Gregorek announces we are once again looking for members to sign-up for the Canton Rotary's annual round of bell-ringing for the Salvation Army. We will be manning the kettles at ACME in North Canton, Beuhler's on Wales/Fulton as well as Fisher Foods located on 44th Street and Fishers on Fulton Road. Each time slot will consist of TWO Rotarians manning the kettles for a TWO HOUR shift. The following time slots are still available:
Saturday, November 22, 2014: ACME (North Canton)/BEUHLER'S (on Wales/Fulton)
10am-12pm (2 volunteers needed for ACME; 1 volunteer needed for Beuhler's)
12pm-2pm (2 volunteers needed for both sites)
2pm-4pm (1 volunteer needed for ACME; 2 volunteers needed for Beuhler's)
The Board of Trustees has nominated the following Rotarians for possible election to the Board for next Rotary year. They are: Steve Fettman, Kurt Goodenberger, Rebecca Marchino and Bruce Schorsten. Election of Board members for next Rotary year will be held at the November 14, 2014 meeting.

Steve's Rotary involvement consists of Chairman of the Philomatheon Society for the Blind Committee; Paul Harris Fellow +3; Chairman of the International Avenue of Service; Chairman of the Club Avenue of Service; Chairman of the Community Avenue of Service; 10 Star Rotarian Award and 13 years perfect attendance.
Kurt Goodenberger -- Director of Business Development with SoL Harris Day Architecture; University of Cincinnati/Architectural Technology; Member of Rotary for seven years; Kurt's Rotary involvement consists of Pancake Day, Golf Committee and Greeter; Kurt is also involved with Siffrin Inc as Past President, Trustee of The Chapel, past Trustee of Mount Vernon Nazarene University Foundation Board, past Trustee of Heritage Christian School and a graduate of Leadership Stark County.
Rebecca Marchino -- Account Executive with WHBC Radio; Kent State University/ Communications; Member of Rotary for one year; Rebecca's Rotary involvement consists of JA Volunteer Teacher, Health Screening Marketing and the Meet and Greet Committee. Rebecca is also involved in the Marketing Committee Wilderness Center, Board Member for Project Kare, Board Member for RUMO, Stark County Family Services Planning Committee, Stark County Citizens for Childrens Services Levy Fundraising Committee.
Bruce Schorsten -- Broker with Dehoff Relocation; Kent State/Business Education; Member of Rotary for the past 25 years. His Rotary involvement consists of Salvation Army Bellringing, Pancake Day and Chairman of the "Music Committee". Bruce is also involved in the HOF Festival activities and First Tee of Canton. He has held the office of President of the Stark County Board of Realtors.
