KEVIN MAST, OWNER/PRESIDENT, MAST TRUCKING

Kevin Mast is the owner and president of Mast Trucking Inc., in Millersburg, OH. You may have seen Mast's beautiful semi trucks that are blue with red & gold stripes on the roads and highways. When you travel in the eastern United States, you are likely to see more than a dozen of them on the highway to or from New York City, the Washington, DC area, North & South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Louisiana and all points in between, mostly this side of the Mississippi.

As Kevin says, "Mast Trucking hauls breakfast to America!”. They are hauling refrigerated goods from this region out to distribution centers and grocers everyday. This includes products produced locally from companies like Biery Cheese, Case Farms, Fresh Mark, Superior Dairy, Daisy Brand, Tyson Foods, and others.

Seems more like "breakfast, lunch and dinner for America"!

Kevin has been married to his wife Maria for 21 years, and they have 3 children, aged 13, 15, and 17.

(To give you some idea of how these local companies are feeding America, Fresh Mark makes or processes Sugardale Meats and Honey Baked Hams. They make 15,000 pounds of hot dogs an hour, 20 hours a day.

Case Farms processes about 220,000 chickens a day in their Canton plant, plus additional production in their Winesburg plant.)

PRESIDENT MARK'S WEEKLY THOUGHTS

Hello Fellow Rotarians:

This weekend marked the first significant snowfall of the upcoming season. Albeit a small amount, there was still enough to place a thin white blanket on the ground.  For those of us staying in Ohio during the winter we’ll start to think about snow, ice, frigid temperatures, and bad roads.  I hope it reminds us that even through the difficulties, there is beauty all around us.  It just might require us to change our perspective slightly.

Last weeks speaker was TJ Mummert from Pro-Via Door and he provided some insight on company’s growth, as well as their underlying values.  We should all be so fortunate to have a spokesperson like TJ for our organization.  It seemed like a company that truly embodies the 4-way test.

This week’s lunch will be the last before we break for the Thanksgiving holiday, and I hope that we can pack the house for it.  Please remember to register your attendance on Eventbrite so we can have lunch ready for you.

See you Friday,

President Mark

WHAT'D I MISS LAST WEEK?
At our regular meeting on Friday, November 12, 2021, President Mark welcomed a total of 35 Rotarians. After our invocation, the singing of the national anthem, and the Pledge of Allegiance, President Mark asked all military service veterans to stand and be recognized (and thanked) for their service.

Secretary Paula provided the following info:

This Day in History:

1799 - Early American astronomer, Andrew Ellicott, from a ship off the coast of the Florida Keys, witnessed the first recorded meteor shower.
1954 - "The Gateway to America", Ellis Island, closed. It had opened in 1892 and the first person to pass through was 15 year old Annie Moore from Ireland.
1971 - President Richard Nixon announced the withdrawal of about 45,000 U.S. troops from Vietnam by February 1972
2004 - Scott Peterson was convicted of murdering his wife, Laci, and their unborn son. (Last Thursday, it was announced that Laci might get a new trial, as one of the original jurors allegedly lied on her jury questionnaire about being a victim of a crime, whcih can be ruled as misconduct.)

Fun Fact:

Friday was "National Pizza with the Works Except for Anchovies Day".
