Jodi Wayble is a graduate of McKinley Sr. High School, and has completed business courses at Stark State Technical College. Having worked in the corporate world, our speaker found herself called to the ministry of the non-profit organization of Hammer & Nails, Inc. Since coming on staff in 2005, she has grown the part-time position of volunteer/project coordinator into two full-time positions. Jodi now holds the position of Community Outreach Coordinator, where she focuses on spreading the word about Hammer & Nails and securing donations and funding.
Jodi has been married 18 years to her husband Danny and is the mother of two, Jordan, age 12, and Shelby Lynn, age 9 years old. They live on a family farm in Canton South, where they raise pygmy goats for the children’s involvement in 4H. Home life is busy as Jordan plays soccer year round in a travel league, Shelby is in gymnastics and dance, and her husband Danny plays minor league baseball at Thurman Munson Stadium, all while she is training for a Half Marathon. They attend New Way UMC in Perry Township.
In what spare time she has, Jodi is also the Community & Volunteer Coordinator for RunCanton, Inc. – the local non-profit organization that hosts athletic, health, and wellness events such as the Frosty Frolic 5k and the Canton City Marathon. All of their events benefit local charities such as Hammer & Nails.
Youth Exchange Chairperson, Amy Mustafaga, is asking Rotarians to consider opening their home to our current Youth Exchange Student, Gui Guilherme Morgado. Gui is attending North Canton Hoover High School. Amy states we would need a Host family for just a couple months to get Gui through this school year.

Please mark your calendar for Saturday, March 14, 2015, for the Rotary Club of Canton's Annual Pancake Breakfast, Pick Your Prize Raffle AND Health Screening Events! This year's event will once again be held at McKinley High School. The Pancake Breakfast will include: Pancakes, Sausage, Orange Juice, Coffee and Milk.
Please note: Chairperson Dean Wallace and his committee have decided to offer an incentive to other charitable groups to sell tickets to our Pancake Breakfast! These groups will be paid $2.00 for every ticket they sell! So, if you have a church group, Scout troop, sports team, or favorite charity that would like to earn a little extra money, please let Dean know. Information and sign up sheets will be available at this week's meeting.
A Pick Your prize Raffle will be displayed with many wonderful items to choose from! You can purchase tickets the day of the event and then decide what prizes you want to win by placing your ticket(s) into the corresponding bag in front of the item you are interested in. You will not need to be present to win.
The breakfast and raffle combine to make the Rotary's largest fundraiser and help fund our many local charitable efforts through the year, including:

Recollections of Past President, Fritz Spring 2005-2006
During 2005-2006 our membership averaged about 300. Our board reduced the Application Fee for new members under age 35 and we encouraged these new members to be introduced as a group rather than individually.
Attendance at weekly meetings was about 50% of total active members. Good speakers encouraged good attendance. We held our meetings at the McKinley Grand Hotel.
Memorable programs included the Russian delegation’s presentation and follow up discussion; Mercy Medical Center CEO; and the President of Mount Union University.
Our primary projects this year included Boy Scouts, The Haiti Project, Vietnam School and raising money for the Charitable Fund. Pancake day and Holiday Cards continued to be our largest fund raisers.
We held a social event that included a Cocktail Hour for the opening of a new exhibit at the Art Museum.
We awarded 6 new Paul Harris fellowships during the year.
I was privileged to attend the Rotary International Convention in Chicago, IL which celebrated the 100th Anniversary of Rotary. Our club contributed a document about the history of Canton Rotary which was placed in a time capsule to be opened on the 200th year of Rotary. Past president Richard Farson, now deceased, was the primary assembler of this information. Attending this RI Convention reinforced to me what an outstanding world-wide service organization of volunteers is Rotary.
I agreed to serve as president of our club because I was interested in learning more about the organization. What I enjoyed most about being president was the interaction with club members.
Past President, Virginia Neutzling (2002-2003) served as President’s Administrator in our offices at the Bliss Tower.
Dave McQueen and Don Bair co-sponsored me into Canton Rotary. I became a member to interact with local members of the community. Over the years I have sponsored a number of new members including, Dean Wallace, John Ebel, Jeremy Foltz, plus my sons, Brian and Dan Spring.
I have enjoyed my interaction with all of the members of our club as well as with Rotarians throughout our Rotary District 6650. I have witnessed a decline in our membership and I believe too many local clubs have been sponsored.
Many people still do not understand that Rotary is both a local and an international service organization of volunteers. In 100 years I believe Rotary will be stronger and even more global.
Finally, I believe being President of the Rotary Club of Canton is an opportunity that more people should enjoy. Being President of our club provided a great way to experience international travel through the Russian Program and the Youth Exchange Program.
At our weekly meeting on January 16, 2015, President Tom Clevenger thanked Michelle Mullaly for the wonderful programs she brought to the club as December Speaker Chairperson. President Tom then presented Vice President Craig Young with his second New Member sponsor's pin. Tom also informed the members he had attended the Charity Newsboys' fundraiser where Steve Fettman's son, Zack, won a car!
President Elect Paul White then brought the members up to date on the Charitable Fund Drive. Paul was pleased to announce he surpassed his goal of $12,000.00 and stated he was over $14,000.00!.
Rick Taylor then made an announcement on the upcoming Pancake Festival. He stated that your organizations can earn money by selling Pancake tickets. The Rotary Club would receive $4 and your organization would receive $2 of the sale of a ticket.
The "Happy Bucks" news was then provided by the following Rotarians: Richard Regula was excited that The Ohio State University won the National Championship and also that his son was not arrested in Columbus during the celebrations; Paul White stated he was at a "Happy" luncheon table and also his new eyes were working great.
The following Rotarians received a make-up for attending the "New Member" meeting on January 13th: Stacey Giammarco, Rebecca Marchino, Dean Gogolewski, Mike Garcar, Curt Werren and Rick Sherer.
