DAVID KOMEROFSKY, RABBI AT TEMPLE ISRAEL & AMATEUR COMEDIAN
This week’s speaker is Rabbi David Komerofsky of Canton’s Temple Israel, who will speaking about his upcoming joint trip to Israel with members of his congregation and Christ Presbyterian Church.

Rabbi Komerofsky is an Akron native and graduate of the University of Cincinnati. He then attended rabbinical school at the Hebrew Union College in Cincinnati, Los Angeles, and Israel, becoming ordained in 1999.  He stayed at the rabbinical school’s Cincinnati campus, eventually rising to Dean of Students before leaving in 2006 to become the executive director of Hillel (an organization for Jewish college students) at the University of Texas.

Not finding Austin hot enough or liberal enough, he then moved to San Antonio, serving both a congregation as its rabbi and with Hillel International.  Together with his wife, Ronit Sherwin (who is a regional executive with Hillel), he decided to come back to Ohio in 2020 and accept the pulpit in Canton.  Rabbi Komerofsky has made interfaith work and adult education priorities of his work.

Outside of work, Komerofsky is also a master of random trivia and is a comedy club junkie. He has also served as the stunt double for Gru in the “Despicable Me” film franchise. Much to Ronit’s delight, he does not play golf or watch football, so she has his undivided attention to bother her most Sundays. They live in Jackson with their twin teenagers, and their blended family also includes adult twin college graduates.

TRINKETS & TRASH......ER, SWAG....NEEDED FOR RYLA GOODIE BAGS!

(Note from President Rick: Please see this note re: the RYLA Conference this year. Representatives from our two Interact Clubs will be participating and, as a club, we'd like to support this event. Please consider contributing any promotional material from you business if appropriate that you think a teenager might like. If you can do so, please let me or Jennie George know what you will be donating, so we can decide if we want to enhance the "goodies" out of our club budget. Thanks!)

As we reboot the RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) Conference for 2023, we invite all Rotarians in District 6650 to contribute to the "Goody Bags" the students attending the conference will receive.  Our Goody Bags are not unlike the "swag bags" you may have received when attending a conference or event.

Our Goody Bags, though, are made up of items from Rotarians and their businesses.

What are we looking for?  Promotional items from your business for each participant!

Remember:
These bags are for 16-17 year olds.  They like pens and mechanical pencils, highlighters, post-it notes, key chains, small toys,  playing cards, Frisbees, fast food coupons, gum, candy bars, etc.
 - Please NO political giveaways.  We will not use them.

- Please NO CAFFEINE snacks or drinks.  We cannot distribute them for safety reasons.

- You will need 100 of any one item so every bag gets the same items.

- Since we assemble the bags before the students arrive, items must arrive before Tuesday, February 21, 2023.

Items should be delivered or mailed to:
