At our weekly meeting on April 22, 2016, President Paul White welcomed our members and guests to the meeting.
 
Rotarian Mike Eberhart gave the invocation.
 
Club Secretary Michelle Mullaly welcomed the following guests to the meeting: Alena Bower and Jacob Bowling (Interact students and guests of Interact Chairman Tony Pierce), Joe Adkins and Susan White (guests of Paul White), Samantha Ayers (Character Champion), Heidi Ciesewicz (mother of Samantha Ayers), Deb Robinson and Pat Roberts (guests of Sharon Sirpilla).
 
The "Happy Bucks" news was then provided by the following Rotarians:
  • Vice President Amanda Tietze was very pleased to announce she finished paying off her student loans.  Amanda also congratulated PDG/PP Dave Ewing as the newest "Rotarian of the Year";
  •  
  • PDG/PP Bob Pattison was happy his oldest grandson was inducted into the National Honor Society;
  •  
  • Bruce Hale thanked Suzette Matthews for spearheading the donations for the "New Member" project.
Tom Sinclair purchased butter pecan ice cream for everyone at the meeting to celebrate his birthday which was on April 23rd. Happy Birthday Tom and THANK YOU!
 
Past President Tom Clevenger took to the podium to announce the April Character Champion award winners.  This month they were Samantha Ayers and Alexander Cox ~Alexander had to work so he was unable to attend (please see story above for further details).
 
Tony Pierce, Chairman of the Interact Club, introduced two Interact students who were attending the Rotary meeting for the first time.  They were Alena Bower and Jacob Bowling.
 
Sergeant-at-Arms Bob Matthews then reminded the members about the upcoming Health Screen and Wellness Fair on April 30, 2016, at Mercy Medical from 7- 11 am.
 
Suzette Matthews informed the members of her participation in the upcoming HOF marathon.  She was running the race to raise money for Canton Rotary's "New Member" Project.  For every $20.00 raised they will be able to purchase a fire alarm which will be distributed to homes in the Canton area.  Suzette was able to raise a total of $1,100.00 during the April 15 & 22 meetings to apply to this worthy endeavor!
 
President Paul then informed the members of the upcoming meeting with Mayor Tom Bernabei.  The Rotary Club will present the final installment check of $50,000.00 to the City of Canton for the benefit of the Market Square Greenspace.  Anyone interested in attending the meeting on Monday, April 25th is asked to arrive to the meeting prior to the 2 pm start time.   
 
The following Executive Board members will receive a makeup for attending the Executive Board meeting on April 19, 2016: President Paul White, President Craig Young, Vice President Amanda Tietze, Treasurer Dave Schrade, and Secretary Michelle Mullaly.
 
The following Board members and Trustees will receive a makeup for attending the Board meeting on April 25, 2016: President Paul White, President Elect Craig Young, Vice President Amanda Tietze, Treasurer Dave Schrade, Sergeant-at-Arms Bob Matthews. The following Trustees will receive a makeup: Mark Rojek, Suzette Matthews, Dean Wallace, Ryan Parkinson, Bruce Schorsten, Assistant Parliamentarian Dave Ewing and Past President Tom Clevenger.
