BILL EDDINS,  HEAD WOMEN'S GOLF COACH FOR MALONE UNIVERSITY TO SPEAK THIS FRIDAY
Coach Bill Eddins started his 5th season leading the Lady Pioneers golf program this year and has begun his first year as the Assistant Athletic Director of Club and Recreation Sport.

Despite the disappointment of the cancellation of the 2020 spring season due to the coronavirus outbreak, the program took another leap forward last fall. The team shattered 18 and 36 hole school records, (304/615) and top golfer Christina Williams, Eddins’ first recruit, continued to build her Hall of Fame resume by breaking her own school record, shooting the program's first-ever under-par round of 68.

The competitiveness of the program is attracting the best talent it ever has, welcoming four more outstanding recruits this year. In just two years, Eddins successfully recruited 10 golfers to be a part of the Malone Women's Golf team. Off the course, the team GPA is strong and community service is part of the program. Expectations are high and, with the continuity of the coaching staff, the anticipation is off the charts for 2020-2021.

Eddins, who recently completed a 30-year career as a teacher in the Louisville, Lake and West Branch school districts, brought an abundance of coaching experience to his position at Malone.  He served as Louisville High School’s head boys basketball coach from 1993-2001, collecting Division II Ohio Boys Basketball Coach of the Year honors in 2001 after leading the Leopards to their first undefeated regular season in school history.

Additionally, Eddins has also held numerous assistant coaching positions at Louisville, Lake, West Branch and Marlington. His resume also includes positions at the University of Mount Union as a resident director (1990-1995) and at the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a supervisor (2001-2004).

Eddins graduated from Perry High School, earned his bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Mount Union in 1987, and his master’s degree in Sports Science from Ashland University in 1994.  A lengthy list of career honors and achievements includes being named Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers (1996), Stark County Schools Person of Character (2007), and a National Honor Society Person of Influence (2016).

CANTON ROTARY'S BREW CARD EVENT

The Brew Card is on sale now and can be purchased via the event page on Facebook or through Eventbrite.

Check it out and make your donations and support the charitable fund and the breweries.

(Editor's note: as you probably realize, our Canton Rotary Charitable Fund is challenged this year, since we have not been able to hold our normal slate of fundraisers due to COVID. Thanks to Oktoberfest Chairperson, Raquel Raderchak, this BREW CARD creatively takes the place of our live Oktoberfest, and gives us all an opportunity to 1) support Canton Rotary and our Charitable Fund and 2) support local breweries/restaurants that have been hit by COVID challenges, too. And it can be a great gift, especially for your relatives, friends, and associates who are younger-than-Boomer-age and LOVE craft beers! Please consider buying the new Canton Rotary BREW CARD.)
