Big Brothers Big Sisters of Summit, Medina & Stark Counties

Kamelia Fisher has been serving as the Executive Director for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Summit, Medina & Stark Counties since May 2012.  Prior to leading the local BBBS agency, Ms. Fisher spent five years as President and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Central Ohio, an agency serving 6 rural Ohio counties.  Ms. Fisher has also provided leadership and direction for expansion and growth for companies in the for profit sector including serving as CEO for a multi-state antique mall corporation, Development Director for a multi-state software development company and Director for an Ohio Pharmaceutical company.  Her nonprofit experience also includes her role as Director for Roscoe Village Foundation, an 1830’s restored canal town.  Ms. Fisher began her career as the Director of Operations long term care facilities for 13 years.

Ms. Fisher’s passion is helping people become strong and independent as well as helping them to improve their quality of life. Throughout her career, her focus has been on both the geriatric and youth populations either through her professional career or her volunteer service.  Through her leadership, BBBS of Summit, Medina & Stark Counties has increased the number of children served from 100 each year to over 1000.  Her personal goal is to help build collaborations in our community that strengthen families, change the cycle of generational poverty and reduce the need for mentors for children by empowering parents and community members to individually and collectively provide role models each day that children can rely on and receive support from.

Ms. Fisher has a degree in English from Kent State University and a degree in Business Management from Malone University.
