Construction of downtown Canton's Centennial Plaza took a step forward with a Groundbreaking Ceremony on 8/27/2019. President Mark Rojek represented the Rotary Club of Canton at this event.

"After years of adjustments to the plans and cost for Centennial Plaza, city and community leaders shoveled dirt at a ceremonial groundbreaking Tuesday. The mayor thanked local and state leaders and community organizations for their contributions - from the Canton Rotary Club's $100,000 donation for design work in 2015 to Canton voters who approved a 0.5% income tax increase in 2018."
This plaza will commemorate the founding of the National Football League in Canton, which took place 100 years ago in Ralph Hay's Hupmobile dealership showroom on September 17, 1920. It was located on the southwest corner of Cleveland Ave SW and 2nd Street SW.
Other Canton Rotarians in attendance at the groundbreaking ceremony included David Beule, Dave Ewing, Frank Fleischer, Jennie George, Kurt Goodenberger, Dave Grabowsky, Bob Pattison, Tom Schervish, Kirk Schuring, Sam Shaheen, and Paul White.
