At our Zoom meeting on May 7, 2021, President Drew Pelger opened the meeting by welcoming a total of 38 Canton Rotarians (live at John's Bar and also via Zoom), as well as our guest speaker, Scott Slesnick, and guest of the club, Michael Milbrandt.

Interesting historical facts for the day:
  • 1789 – The first inaugural  ball was held today for President George Washington
  • 1914 – The US Congress establishes Mother’s Day.
  • 1941 – Glenn Miller records “Chattanooga Cho Choo” for RCA, which becomes the first record to be designated “gold”.
  • 1970 – “Long and Winding Road” becomes the Beatles first American release.
  • 1975 – President Gerald Ford declares an end to the ‘Vietnam Era”.
  • 1998 – Mercedes-Benz buys Chrysler for $US40 billion and forms DaimlerChrysler in the then largest industrial merger in history.

In 2012 Paeleoclimatological research claims dinosaur flatulence may have warmed the earth.
