At the meeting on December 15, 2017, Sergeant-at-Arms Robert K. Matthews (sponsor) introduced his new member, Dr. Anthony Bertin, to the Rotary Club of Canton.

Dr. Bertin has been in the private practice of Urology in the Canton / Massillon area since 1983 and is active on the staff at Affinity, Aultman and Mercy Medical Centers.

He first became acquainted with this area while working for a Cleveland Contractor who was working on Belden Village at the time.  That job got him through college at St. Louis University.  During medical school at the Midwestern University in Chicago, he ran out of money, so he entered the Air Force Health Professions Scholarship Program.  The Air Force allowed him to complete his Internship and Residency Programs at Henry Ford Hospitals in Detroit.  Following his training in Urology, he was Chief of Urological Surgery at Barksdale Air Force Base in Shreveport Louisiana.  He was honorably discharged from the Air Force with the rank of Major.

Dr. Bertin is Board Certified in Urological Surgery and is an Associate Professor of Urological Surgery at the Ohio College of Osteopathic Medicine.  He belongs to numerous professional societies.

Tony married this wife, Julie, while in medical school in 1973.  Together they have raised five children and have six grandchildren.  Julie is a Special Ed teacher at McKinley High School Timken Campus.

They have been residents of Jackson Township for 34 years and in the early days, he was a member of the Belden Village Rotary Club.

This past July, Dr. Bertin was sworn in as the Interim Coroner of Stark County, upon the retirement of former Canton Rotarian, Dr. P.S. Murthy, for whom he had worked as his Chief Deputy Coroner.

Tony and his wife love to garden and spend time with their grandchildren.  He and his sons like to fish and this past summer had a wonderful trip to Alaska.
