Hello Fellow Rotarians,

I had the pleasure of hosting my first Canton Rotary social meeting last Friday while President Drew was away for some well-deserved family time.  Aside from generally socializing I had a bit of an agenda for the meeting in that I wanted to know more about what you wanted both in terms of restarting our in-person activities and club activities. Although there were only 17 of us at the Zoom meeting, I came away with a great deal.  First and foremost, I am surrounded by amazing people in Rotary who regardless of the barriers want to connect and do good.

  • We seem to agree that getting back in person is paramount, and we may have to be creative in finding covered open-air facilities until The Krassas Center opens.  Becky agreed to take the helm on this and survey members on their desire and concerns regarding this.
  • Talk regarding past and future projects really seemed to indicate that we want to get back to it by identifying what we want to do for the year, getting our committees setup, and engaging our members to get busy making things happen.
  • It was clear that everyone on the call felt we were a powerful club that continues to do great things, but we need to do a much better job of sharing this with the community through media opportunities, and especially through an enhanced social media push.  If we have club members that are especially wired for this type of service, please let us know.  We would welcome your assistance here.
  •  A couple of our newer members Wilbur, Dallas, and Darren talked about why they joined Rotary, what was important to them, and what they would like to see going forward.  I hope they continue to push us and help us recruit new members like them

Thanks for allowing me the opportunity to listen and understand a bit better what I can do to help the club.  You are a great group and I am thrilled to be part of The Rotary Club of Canton.
