Our speaker this Friday will be Scott Slesnick. Scott was born and raised in Canton. He is a graduate of Glen Oak High School and The Ohio State University. He is the fourth-generation of his family to be involved in the local recycling business.S. Slesnick Co. started in 1924 and split into two separate businesses in the 1950s, commonly known as Slesnick Steel and Slesnick Recycling. Slesnick Recycling employs 60 people and recycles over 15,000 tons of paper materials every month at its Stark County locations. Scott will talk briefly about how the recycling business fits into the local and global economy.
But more importantly, Scott is also an avid juggler. He started juggling in high school, and has been the president of the Rubber City Jugglers for over 20 years. He has also held several positions in the International Jugglers' Association. Scott is mostly a hobbyist juggler, but has performed at dozens of local events for a wide variety of organizations.
