During the June 29, 2018, Rotary meeting, Vice President Mark Rojek and Rotarian David Roberts introduced the 2018-2019 Rotarian of the Year, Steve Fettman. David had these words to say about Steve:

"We can all think of words that describe this honoree: gratitude, love, admiration, dedication, integrity, kindness, compassion, generosity and many laughs.

He has been on our board twice, helped with the pocket park, sponsored Pancake Day, Oktoberfest, Multiple Paul Harris Fellow and has continued the legacy of his father helping with the Philamatheon home when they need something and arranging their annual picnic.

He is a 1986 graduate of University of Cincinnati Pharmacy School, he began his work career when he was five, his dad would give him a broom and have him sweep the sidewalk then his dad would pay him and he would run next door to Johnnies Bakery. His father Dave gave him some sage advice after he graduated, go out and get some experience somewhere else and get some fresh ideas.  But deep down, Steve knew that wherever he initially worked his career path would eventually wend its way through Canton. Sure enough Steve returned 5 years later after reviewing a classified ad in the   Ohio Pharmacist Association magazine that offered a job in a Canton drugstore promising long hours and low wages that was Dad calling him home.

How does Davies Drugs stand out from the competition - excellent customer service which is something of a tradition. There is not a day in the week that Steve or a pharmacist en route home does not drop off a prescription to someone.

Dave told Steve time and time again, if we do not take care of our customers someone else will.

Steve bought the business from his Dad in 2000 with Dave passing in 2002.

Having shared this heartwarming introduction our boy does have some vices he has a proclivity for those piranhas in pinstripes alias the Bronx Bombers, the Boss, Howard Stern, OzzyMan, Vic Dibitetto and pastries from Johnnies.

His wife Jodi recently arranged their  25th wedding anniversary celebration that lasted 10 days,  starting out in Kansas City moving on to Arlington Texas and then to the New York to  follow his bromance with #99 Aaron Judge and finally to see Bruce on  Broadway.

For some of the new members who do not recognize Steve from his directory picture. We have a little gift for Steve from Marcs Drug store to help him match his photo.

I could share hilarious pranks and mischief that this man has gotten him into but, we are here to honor him today. To sum it all up no one is more deserving of this award and I am proud to call him my friend and a Mensch."

Congratulations Steve!!
