At our weekly meeting held on October 3, 2014, President Tom Clevenger recognized those members celebrating a birthday in the month of October. He also reminded the membership that this was the last day to order a McKinley/Massillon t-shirt. He also stated if you are planning to attend the October 31st meeting held in Massillon this year, you must contact the Rotary office and let either Lauri or Barb know. We need to have an accurate head count to provide to the Massillon Rotary for seating and food.President Elect Paul White brought the members up to date on the Rotary Club of Canton's Charitable Fund Drive. He stated the donations so far total $5,400.00 and his goal is $12,000.00. He asked if you have not already done so to please consider making a donation to the Charitable Fund today.
Paul then proceeded to auction off two tickets to the American Mosaic Symphony Orchestra for the October 5th performance which were donated by Frank Fleischer. Past President (and this year's "Rotarian of the Year" recipient) Mike Gregorek was the highest bidder paying $70.00 for this event. Paul then informed the members he would now auction off the four tickets to the Cleveland Browns vs Pittsburgh Steelers game being held on October 12th. Paul worked the members hard to acquire the $220.00 high bid he received from Dick Nicely! These Browns tickets were donated by President Tom. The money raised will benefit the Canton Charitable Fund.
Club Secretary Amanda Tietze welcomed the following guests to our meeting: Jim Ondrus (Jackson Rotarian); Jim Benton, Brian Hollingsworth; Joshua Snyder and District Governor Phil Mariola (Wooster). The "Happy Bucks" news was provided this week by the following Rotarians: Paul Feaser is celebrating his 46th wedding anniversary as well as anticipating the birth of his grandchild; Richard Regula announced he was celebrating his 25th wedding anniversary; Jon Adland thanked a Rotarian for calling him and wishing him a "Happy New Year" for the Jewish Holiday.
Rotarian Bill Griffing introduced the newest Paul Harris Fellow, Bobbi Montenegro (see story below).
