During the October 5, 2018, President Michelle Mullaly welcomed the 51 members and 11 guests to the meeting. President Michelle asked all Rotarians and guests who have an October birthday to please stand and be recognized.
 
Rotarian Jon Adland gave the Invocation.
 
Congratulations to PDG/PP Dave Ewing for having the winning 50/50 ticket! Dave won $57.00 from the drawing.
 
President Elect Mark Rojek filled in for a traveling Secretary Suzette Matthews. Mark welcomed the following guests to the meeting: Mike Trabert (speaker); Gerhardt Zimmermann (guest of President Michelle Mullaly); Kim Baumann (guest of PP John Werren); Barry Adelman (guest of Dave Schrade); Roger and Jan Baker, Bob Leibensperger, and Bob Mann (guests of Bill Maddox); Marty Howard (guest of Julia Dick); PDG Geoff Goll (guest of the Club); Rachel Schneider (guest).
 
The "Happy News" was then provided by the following:
  • PP Rick Taylor - to recognize Rotarian Lynn Hamilton wearing a Kozmo's shirt at the previous night's Massillon Chamber Dinner;
  •   - also, to support the Cleveland Indians playoff run!
President Michelle informed everyone of the following announcements:
  • Sign-up sheets are available for volunteers for the upcoming Salvation Army Bell-ringing on November 24th and December 1st at the Fisher Foods on 44th Street;
  •  
  • If you are planning to attend the Canton/Massillon Rally meeting on October 26th you MUST RSVP! There is a cost this year of $20 for Rotarian; $8.00 if you are a pre-paid lunch and $25.00 for Non-Rotarian. You must have your RSVP and payment to the Rotary office no later than Friday, October 19th (*see story above);
  •  
  • Thank you to St. Haralambos Church for providing the delicious apple dumpling dessert!
PDG/PP Dave Ewing and PDG Geoff Goll presented a Paul Harris Fellow to Gerhardt Zimmermann (*see story above);
 
October Speaker Chair Steve Fettman welcomed speaker, Mike Trabert aka "Mr. Ballpark". Mike spoke on the evolution of ballparks.
 
President Michelle concluded the meeting with the following announcements:
  • next week's speakers will be Will Cooley and Fred Scott, discussing Issue 1;
  • next week's meeting will start PROMPTLY at NOON due to a variety of items to be addressed prior to the speakers' presentation!
  • on October 19th, fellow Rotarian Theresa Blocher will auction off the bottle of wine donated to the club by PDG Geoff Goll. Proceeds will benefit Rotary International's "End Polio Now". Remember to bring your checkbooks, cash or credit cards;
  • October 26th will be the Canton/Massillon Rally. Make sure you get you and your guest(s) RSVP's and payment into the office no later than October 19th;
  • The Health Screen and Wellness Fair will take place on Saturday, November 17th. The event registration is up and running.
