WEEKLY MEETING NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS-FS

At our weekly meeting held on September 2, 2014, President Tom Clevenger opened the meeting stating that this is the 100th anniversary of the Rotary Club of Canton.  He reminded members that District 6650 is collecting cell phones to donate to the Central American Medical Outreach Program.  Also, it was announced that, beginning Friday, September 12, 2014, you will now have the ability to pay for your weekly lunch with either a credit or debit card (see story below).  

 

President Elect Paul White welcomed the following guests to our meeting: Derek Lann, Pat Kiko, Scott Erickson and Amber Knight.  

 

The "Happy Bucks" news was provided this week by the following Rotarians: Rick Taylor announced that Sunday his son, Aaron, had gotten married.  He also thanked Honorary Rotarian Mark Netro and his staff at Charlie Brown Catering for the outstanding job they did at the wedding. Rick also informed the membership that his guest, Scott Erickson, was a former Canton Rotarian who is interested in returning to the club. Rebecca Marchino was very pleased to announce the addition of a second granddaughter to the family, Mila Grace.  Jim Blake also had a new addition to his family, his third grandson was born! Bruce Hale announced that President Elect Craig Young's daughter was getting married Saturday.  Paul White was pleased to announce he just had his 185th radio program on WHBC. 

 

Speaker Dick Kiko, Jr. auctioned off two Cleveland Indians tickets for that evening's game, donated by Rotarian Dean Wallace.  The winning bid of $20.00 was made by Mark Rojek.  Dick Jr. also brought a 1988 silver dollar coin with him which he auctioned off to the members.  He stated the coin had a 90% silver content.  The winning bid of $47.00 went to Jim Lockshin.

 

Rotarians turning in makeups at Friday's meeting were: Kitty Pelanda (Plain), Ray V. Pelanda (Plain), Loucile Powers (Fairlawn), Tom Sinclair (North Canton and 2 makeups on the Queen Mary), Bob Matthews (Venice Nokomis), Jody Levitt (Hilton Head Island, and 2 eClub makeups).
