At our weekly meeting on November 7, 2014, President Tom Clevenger asked members to keep the family of Canton Rotarian George Davidson in their thoughts and prayers. George passed away over the weekend at the age of 96. The November birthdays were then recognized and were provided a piece of chocolate cake. President Tom also thanked Speaker Chair Chris Burt for the great speakers he provided in the month of October.Rotarian Jim Blake provided a wonderful presentation recognizing all Military Service Veterans from the Club.
Rotarian Taylor Schauer presented his two new members, Keith Hochadel and Mike Garcar, to the Club. (Please see story regarding these newest members.)
President Elect Paul White brought the membership up to date on the Charitable Fund Drive. Paul is still in need of $4,000.00 to reach his goal of $12,000.00. If you have not yet donated, please consider doing so. Paul also informed the members about an upcoming auction the proceeds of which will benefit the Charitable Fund. A basket full of great items will be auctioned off closer to the December Holiday Break. *Look for more information in an upcoming Rotogram.
PP Mike Gregorek announced we are still in need of volunteers for this year's Salvation Army Bell ringing taking place on Saturday, November 22nd and December 6th (please see story).
President Tom informed the members about the collection of non-perishable food to help Canton Rotarian Teresa Dixon and her organization "Thanksgiving Baskets Downtown" which have helped feed the hungry for the past 30 years. You may bring in your food donation to this Friday's meeting. *Please see story for requested food donations.
Club Secretary Amanda Tietze welcomed the following guests to our meeting: Joyce Carr, Susan Feaser and Ryan Gerber.
The "Happy Bucks" news was then provided by the following Rotarians: PDG/PP Dave Ewing informed the members about the upcoming Foundation Celebration on November 15th at the Canton Club. He asked members to contact Lauri at the Rotary office if they wanted to register for this event. Dave also informed everyone of the matching Foundation donation; Nick Perini said he was happy we were not in Massillon this week; Dan Matthews was happy for his guest, Ryan Gerber, who was celebrating his 11 year anniversary; Bruce Schorsten was happy with the Cleveland Browns win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
The following Rotarians received a make-up for their participation in bringing five or more food items for the food drive: President Tom Clevenger, Treasurer Dave Schrade, PP Rick Huetter, PP Virginia Neutzling, Terri Barry and Tena Wilson.
The following Rotarians turned in make-ups: Bill Maddox (two from Perry), Kitty Pelanda (two from Plain) and Ray V. Pelanda (two from Plain).
