At our weekly meeting on December 15, 2017, President Amanda Tietze welcomed the 67 members and 7 guests attending the meeting.Rotarian David Roberts gave the Invocation.
Secretary Suzette Matthews welcomed the following guests to the meeting: Andrea Brown (guest of Kyle Brown); Lyndsey Clendenin (guest of Mark Clendenin); Tracie Clendenin (guest of Mark Clendenin); Sara Baldoni (Youth Exchange Student); Mike Rogers and Laura Rogers (guests of Don Peterson); Misty Moyers-Chavez (guest of Michelle Mullaly).
The "Happy News" was provided by the following:
- PP Dan Matthews - to challenge Rob Roland to recite the words to the "HELLO" song and give $10 if he could do it on the spot;
- Ernie Schott - in recognition and thanks for Michelle Mullaly and the "Pack the Bus" event on 12/12/17 and then Rotarians delivering to Allen School on 12/13/17. Provided food for 80 families, along with snacks for their pantry and some coats too;
- Lynn Hamilton - in recognition of Bruce Schorsten's letter to the Repository;
- PP Dennis Fulmer - in thanks to Michelle Mullaly's Charitable Drive and providing easy-to-complete forms on each table. Contribute today!
- President Amanda Tietze - in recognition of the BBB's "File For Life" effort to provide important information to first responders to your home (with a refrigerator magnet). Contact the BBB for more details;
- Shawn Dougherty - to announce a Rotary social event on February 21st - "The Charge". A great opportunity to meet and spend time with Rotarians from our club as well as other clubs.
- Robert Matthews - in celebration of a new Rotarian joining our club - Dr. Anthony Bertin;
- Tracie Clendenin - in thanks for being the host family for Sara Baldoni, the Youth Exchange Student from Italy.
Sergeant-at-Arms Robert Matthews introduced his new member, Anthony Burtin (*See story above).
President Elect Michelle Mullaly asked everyone again if they have not already done so to please consider donating the the Canton Rotary Charitable Fund. Michelle also informed the members of the wonderful outpouring of support for the "Pack the Bus" program which helped the students from Allen Elementary School in Canton City School District.
Michelle then welcomed the "Young People Making it Big" a choir from the Arts Academy at Summit who performed Holiday classics.
President Amanda then concluded the meeting with the following announcements:
- thanked PP Karen Brenneman as the December Speaker Chair and for her wonderful speakers she provided for the month of December;
- wished everyone a wonderful New Year and reminded the members we will not have a meeting for the NEXT TWO WEEKS. We will see everyone again on Friday, January 5, 2018.
The following Rotarians turned in a makeup during Friday's meeting: Ernie Schott (Canton South); Bill Maddox (Perry, North Canton).
The following Rotarians will receive a makeup for volunteering for the "Pack the Bus" program: Michelle Mullaly, Raquel Raderchak, Bob Pattison, Robert Matthews, Amanda Tietze, Bill Liber, Drew Pelger, and Bruce Hale.
The following Rotarians will receive a makeup for attending the New Member Orientation meeting on Friday, December 15, 2017: PP Rick Taylor, PP Tom Clevenger, Raquel Raderchak, Amanda Berkeley, and Anthony Bertin.
