During the October 19, 2018, meeting, President Michelle Mullaly welcomed the 53 members and 7 guests to the meeting.
 
PDG/PP Bob Pattison gave the Invocation.
 
Congratulations to Gary Sirak for having the winning 50/50 ticket! Gary won $67.00 from the drawing.
 
Secretary, Suzette Matthews, welcomed the following guests to the meeting: Eric McKimm (guest of Ryan Parkinson); Tim Haverstock (guest of Steve Fettman); and the following Character Counts guests, Lori Fountain, Sh'Diamond Oliver, D. Alijah Curtis, Claudia Curtis, and Dave Kliem.
 
The "Happy News" was provided by the following:
  • Virginia Neutzling - thanked our speaker, Kenny Peterson, for the sweet treats he provided to our members (editor's note: from Kenny's new business, "Nothing Bundt Cakes");
  • Paul White - in honor of Lauri Coy's daughter getting married last weekend; congratulations Lauri!
  • James Boggs - in celebration of being a member of the finest Rotary Club of Canton;
  • Rick Taylor - happy to have James Boggs as a member of our club and for the UC Bearcats' football success this year.
  • Chuck Smith - for receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award; congrats Chuck!
  • Mark Rojek - in honor of the Ohio State University and Purdue game;
  • Ernie Schott - in honor of Alijah Curtis' success this year as McKinley quarterback and for the great football season;
  • Lynn Hamilton - in celebration of the Massillon Tigers' 101 to 6 victory the previous Friday;
  • Dan Matthews - in celebration of Sweetest Day, October 20, 2018 and to recognize his sweet wife, Suzette (Dan tried to pass off his $1 donation as her Sweetest Day gift!)
  • Robert Matthews - in promotion of the upcoming Health and Wellness Fair Screening on November 17, 2018.
Past President Paul White congratulated President Michelle Mullaly for being inducted into the YWCA's Women's Hall of Fame.
 
President Elect Mark Rojek gave an announcement on the ongoing Charitable Fund Drive.
 
Rotarian Mike Brown presented the Character Champ winners, Sh'Diamond Oliver and D. Alijah Curtis, for the month of October (*see story above);
 
Rotarian Theresa Blocher helped out by auctioning off a paperclip, which (also came with a bottle of wine donated by Past District Governor Geoff Goll). The proceeds from this auction will go directly to Rotary International to benefit "End Polio Now". The winning bidder was President Michelle Mullaly for the amount of $65.00. (Editor's note: President Michelle did not offer to share her new paper clip or her new bottle of wine!)
 
Rotarian James Boggs made an announcement regarding sign-ups for this year's Salvation Army bell-ringing.
 
October Program Chair Steve Fettman welcomed his speaker, Kenny Peterson. Kenny spoke on his football career and business successes post NFL career.
 
President Michelle concluded the meeting with the following announcements:
 
  • Thanked Program Chair Steve Fettman for his outstanding programs in October;
  • Next week's meeting will be the Canton/Massillon rally meeting in Massillon.  If you were planning on attending this meeting you had to submit your RSVP into the office last Friday;
  • Thanked Theresa Blocher for her expert auctioneer skills;
  • Reminder: Don't forget to sign-up for the Salvation Army bell-ringing;
  • November 17th Health Screen.
