During the meeting on Friday, November 30, 2018, President Michelle Mullaly welcomed the 53 members and 5 guests to the meeting. She informed everyone of the passing of Tim Franta's mother and a sympathy card was passed around to sign.
Rotarian David Roberts gave the Invocation.
Congratulations to Past President Dan Fuline for having the winning 50/50 ticket, worth $52.00.
Secretary Suzette Matthews welcomed the following guests to the meeting:  Will Underwood (Kent Rotary); JC Charles (guest of President Michelle Mullaly); Wilbur Allen (guest of Steve Fettman); Bob Howler (Louisville Rotary); Ken Willett (Louisville Rotary).
The "Happy News" was then provided by the following:
  • Ernie Schott - in thanks for everyone's hard work and contributions to "Pack the Bus" event this month!
  • PP Amanda Tietze - to share the great fellowship and opportunity to help ring the Salvation Army bell with Robert Matthews last week
  •    - also, to celebrate her daughter's basketball season that just started;
  • Will Underwood - to celebrate being at the Canton Rotary meeting (visiting from Kent Rotary);
  • Dave Schrade - to recognize the Buckeyes' and Browns' victories the previous weekend
  • PP Rick Taylor - to congratulate the Massillon Tigers on a great 2018 football season;
  • JC Charles - to celebrate meeting a wonderful woman in his life: our Rotary President, Michelle Mullaly;
President Michelle announced that the "holiday tip" jar was being passed around to the members. She stated the money collected would then be provided to the Church to thank their wonderful volunteers who work hard each and every Friday to make the Rotary meetings so special. *Editor's note: $338.00 was collected
President Michelle reminded everyone about the following events:
  • Re: "Pack the Bus" program  - additional dates added for anyone interested in donating non-perishable items, clothing or money. There will also be another shopping day once we hear from the Canton City Schools as to what is still needed.
  • she is chairing the Rotary District 6650 "Rotary Foundation Art Auction" on February 1, 2019, and looking for Rotarians and their friends and family who are willing to donate their original artwork  for this year's District Art Event. All mediums accepted - including paint, ceramic, pottery, fabric, needle arts and photography. Please turn in donation form by December 15, 2018 and ALL art must be submitted by January 11, 2019. Proceeds to support Rotary Foundation projects.
President Michelle then introduced Kent Rotarian William Underwood, who informed the members about their water project in El Salvador.
The president concluded the meeting with the following announcements:
  • everyone could turn their cell phones back on;
  • she thanked November speaker chair Shawn Dougherty on his wonderful speakers;
  • next week's speaker will be Robert Fenn speaking on Social Security/Medicare;
  • if you have not already done so, please consider donating to the "holiday tip" collection, the Canton Rotary Charitable Fund drive, and the Rotary Foundation Paul Harris Fellow Challenge;
  • next week will be the final week to bring in non-perishable food items, clothing or monetary donations for "Pack the Bus".
The following Rotarians will receive a makeup for volunteering their time leading up to the Health Screen & Wellness event as well as the day of the event on November 17, 2018: Bob Matthews, Mark Rojek, Rob Roland, Paul White, Shawn Dougherty, Rebecca Marchino, Don Peterson, Tim Furbay, Jack Barkan, Tony Pierce, Justin Candea, Rick Taylor, Raquel Raderchak and Amanda Tietze.
The following Rotarians will receive a makeup for volunteering on December 1, 2018, for the Salvation Army bell ringing: PP Rick Huetter, James Boggs, Bob Matthews, Bruce Schorsten, Scott Sandrock, Ryan Parkinson, Chris Burt, PDG/PP Bob Pattison, PP Fritz Spring, PP Dan Matthews, David Roberts, PP Jack Barkan, PP Rick Taylor, Shawn Dougherty and Tim Furbay.
