During the meeting on June 21, 2019, President Michelle Mullaly welcomed the 48 members and 4 guests to the meeting. The members were informed of the passing of Jeff Scott's father. Please keep Jeff and his family in your thoughts and prayers.PDG/PP Bob Pattison gave the Invocation.
Rotarian Ernie Schott held the winning 50/50 ticket worth $33.00.
Rotarian Paula Mastroianni filled in for a traveling Club Secretary Suzette Matthews. Paula welcomed the following guests to the meeting: Sherri McKinney-Frantz (speaker); Sandy Adland (guest/wife of Jon Adland); Sam Shaheen (guest of Ernie Schott); Zak Fettman (guest/son of Steve Fettman).
The "Happy News" was given by the following:
- PP Amanda Tietze - happy her son graduated from Perry High School and will be testing to get accepted into an electrical studies program;
- PP Denny Fulmer - happy because summer is the time for grandkids birthdays! His grandson turns 4, granddaughter turns 2 and there is soon to be a baby born in August!
- Jim Blake - happy his 10th grandson was born, James Elefonte!
- Jon Adland - thankful his wife, Sandy, had kept festivities for his retirement plans to herself and is looking forward to retirement;
- Paul Hervey - happy his son is collecting for DARE making small miracles happen;
- Dave Hursh - happy his granddaughter graduated with honors from college and his other granddaughter graduated from high school with honors!
- Chris Burt - happy that Jenny George is a new member;
Golf Co-Chairman Bill Liber brought the members up to date on the golf outing taking place next Friday, June 28, 2019. He asked if you have not notified the Rotary office if you were playing or you had a foursome, to please let them know ASAP. We need to let the golf course know so they can order the food for the event. Also, if you were interested in being a hole sponsor, please let the office know by Monday, June 24th. This is the deadline date to have the hole sponsor sign printed by USAQuickprint. The winner of the Masters Golf hat was Brad Carpenter selling 5 hole sponsorships!
"Unevent" Raffle Chairman Mark Clendenin did the second drawing of prizes. PP Denny Fulmer won the "Indulge Yourself" prize. This included a full body Swedish massage, a relaxing spa facial, a spa pedicure and a sampling of special hair care products from Scott Talbot Salon Spa. The second raffle drawing prize was the "Manhattan Relaxin" gift basket. It included a six month membership to The Cigar Lodge at Portage lakes, 1 bottle of Weller Antique 107 Bourbon, 1 bottle sweet vermouth, 1 bottle bitters, 2 premium cigars, 2 Manhattan glasses, 1 sphere ice mold. The winner of this prize was Eric Keifer from Young Truck Sales.
President Michelle then informed the members that Rotarian Ron Haines had won the Akron Rubberducks "First Pitch" drawing held the week before. Ron had to decline this prize due to a shoulder injury. President Michelle raffled this prize off with the money going to the Unevent Raffle. The winning bid of $250.00 was Mark Rojek. Mark will let us know the game date he selects and we hope to have an outing for fellow Rotarians to attend this date and cheer Mark on!
Rotarian Jim Molnar introduced the speaker for the meeting, Sherri McKinney-Frantz, from Children's Network of Stark County.
President Michelle concluded the meeting with the following announcements:
- she thanked everyone for their support during her term as President. She stated this was her last official meeting.
- there is NO MEETING next week or on July 5th due to the Fourth of July weekend;
- if you are planning on golfing in the golf outing and have not registered, please contact the office no later than Monday;
- Steve Fettman was in need of volunteers to help with the Philomatheon Society for the Blind's annual picnic which was held on Saturday, June 22nd.
