I am writing to all of you from the lovely beach in Hilton Head, SC. After only a week as President, I feel that a vacation is well deserved.
While we are still waiting for our next physical meeting, patiently or impatiently, we still have had a couple of opportunities to meet as Rotarians. On June 26th, we had our slightly reduced golf outing at The Sanctuary Golf Club. We had a fantastic day and a lot of credit goes to Bill Liber and the entire golf outing committee.
July 1st was our Club Installation at Kozmo’s Grille in Massillon. We had a fantastic evening as we thanked Mark Rojek for his time as President, as well as our outgoing board members: Bill Liber, Jeff Scott, and Dan Fuline. We also had the opportunity to welcome our new board members: Jon Adland, Wilbur Allen, Paul Hervey, and Dave Roberts.
A big thanks goes out to all of the Rotarians who are keeping our mission alive during this challenging time when we are unable to have meetings.
Hello fellow Rotarians. I hope you are enjoying this wonderful summer weather while we work through these unfamiliar times. I do miss the weekly in-person lunch meetings and the banter that goes along with seeing everyone. I'd be remiss if I didn't at least acknowledge that I miss the lunch as well. As Rotarian Hamilton puts it, we are Zooming again this Friday and I will be sitting in for President Pelger, as he is spending some quality time with his family.
Please join me this Friday in what will be a regular club meeting with some early socializing, followed at noon by a bit of a working meeting. I wanted to take the time to open up discussion limited to two topics:
Drew and I have talked about having some open-air off-site meetings while we are awaiting the opening of the Krassas Center. I'll give you a couple of my thoughts and I look forward to hearing from you.
Let's share some thoughts about who we are as a club, as well as our thoughts on how we can grow and thrive going forward. What are some of our favorite projects and what are some new ideas for projects?
At our Zoom meeting on July 10, 2020, President Drew Pelger opened the meeting by welcoming the 28 Rotarians and 2 guest speakers in attendance, playing the National Anthem and leading the members in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.
The invocation was given by President Drew Pelger.
Club Secretary Paula Mastroianni reported some interesting facts for the day and received "Happy Bucks" from the following Rotarians: Amanda Tietze and Bob Matthews.
Announcements:
President Drew gave a quick update on last week's installation of officers meeting where we welcomed four (4) new board members: Jon Adland, Wilbur Allen, Paul Hervey and David Roberts; and said goodbye to three (3) outgoing board members: Dan Fuline, Bill Liber and Jeff Scott.
President Drew welcomed any comments, suggestions or criticism from the members.
President Drew also announced that he has been working with President-Elect Mark Clendenin on an upcoming project to generate funds for our club. This project will be announced at a later date.
Vice President Julia Dick welcomed our speakers, Brianna Hill and Julie Elkins from Domestic Violence Project.

Next week's Rotary meeting will be a Zoom fellowship meeting which will be conducted by President-Elect Mark Clendenin.

Rotarians, we encourage you to support our host of our weekly meetings (when we're able to meet face-to-face, or mask-to-mask, again), St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church, and their Krassas Event Center.
Most of us have had the pleasure of sampling their wonderfully authentic Greek food at our meetings or at their previous 'normal' festival. This year, it will be a DRIVE-THRU Festival, only!
You gotta eat, so why not dive-thru and pick up some delicious Greek food to support our friends at St. Haralambos!
