PASSING OF PAST PRESIDENT MIKE GREGOREK
We are sad to announce that Past President Mike Gregorek passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2020.

Dr. Mike Gregorek attended Gannon College in Erie, PA as well as the University of Pittsburgh Medical School.  Mike did his residency of Internal Medicine at Aultman Hospital and Mercy Medical Center, both in Canton Ohio.  In his spare time away from Rotary, Mike enjoyed golf and playing poker.

Mike was a dedicated Rotarian for 36 years, President of the Rotary Club of Canton in 1992-93, chairperson of the Salvation Army Bell ringing for many years, a Paul Harris Fellow +1, and was Rotarian of the Year in 2014.  Mike enjoyed visiting other Rotary Clubs during his personal and professional travels. He lived his life following the Rotary motto "Service Above Self".

God bless you, Mike. We will miss you!

We will be sending Mike's obituary to everyone in a separate email.

THANK YOU LETTER RECEIVED FROM THE PHILOMATHEON SOCIETY OF THE BLIND
The Rotary office received a "Thank You" letter from Denise J. Dessecker, President of the Philomatheon Society of the Blind. Denise writes:

Dear Rotarians,

On behalf of the Board of Directors and the Membership of the Philomatheon Society we would like to thank the Rotary Club of Canton for their support of the Society for many years.

This year's project was a challenge due to Covid, but Steve Fettman and his Philomatheon Committee met that challenge and provided our membership with a lovely gift basket with a fluffy throw and holiday goodies, and they delivered them to everyone personally.

It is always a pleasure to work with Steve and his committee on projects, and we appreciate the generosity of them and the Rotary.  Thank you again for your kindness.

Sincerely,
Denise J. Dessecker, President

PAUL HARRIS FELLOW CHALLENGE

Rotary Foundation:

All Rotarians in the District should have received a special envelope in mid-November by postal mail with information about our PHF Challenge and new Double Your Donation contests. Please review the letter and consider donating to The Rotary Foundation to do “Good in the World” and your local community. Feel free to email questions to me.

Paul Harris Fellow Challenge:

For each $20 donated to The Rotary Foundation, you have a chance to win the prestigious Paul Harris Fellow Recognition for you, your spouse, or a friend. The more you donate, the more chances to win.

Double Your Donation:

Donate $100 or more and gift your matching Foundation Points to a fellow Rotarian. You both receive the donor credit toward your first or next Paul Harris Fellow recognition level.
Consider working as a group to honor a special Rotarian. You will also be entered multiple times into the PHF Challenge for each $20 donated.

You must return the letter that I sent to you to participate in the contest by January 1, 2021. Can’t find the letter? Email me at Peter@salemrad.com, and I will send you a copy by email.

Thank you in advanced for your generosity!

Peter Apicella, District Foundation Chair

With that in mind, they make GREAT GIFTS for any beer lover or gourmand on your list (while supporting the Canton Rotary Charitable Fund and our local breweries during this difficult time).
