BOB QUINN, PHD, BIG SANDY, MT, FARMER WILL SPEAK THIS FRIDAY ON "CREATING A BETTER FOOD SYSTEM, ORGANICALLY!
Scientist, Farmer, Doctor, Innovator, Author, Plainsman, Rotarian, Magazine Cover Model…all describe this week’s ZOOM meeting presenter. Bob Quinn lives and farms on a third generation owned, 4,000-acre spread in Northwest Montana, which he uses as a laboratory to revive an ancient grain, to rethink modern agricultural practices and to reinvigorate rural communities.

Bob’s program will highlight excerpts from his 2019 book, Grain by Grain, which chronicles his quest to revive ancient wheat, rural jobs, and healthy food. “As an entrepreneur and scientist working in the midst of rural American poverty, I have seen firsthand how putting food, and other fundamental goods like energy, at the center of a value-added economy can foster health, economic opportunity and ecological regeneration, particularly in some of our country’s poorest communities. I measure the success of my business by the degree to which it’s added economic, ecological, and nutritional value all along the supply chain.” Bob’s approach to producing organic grains, fruits and vegetables, caring for the environment, and helping to enrich and improve the lives of others will inform and inspire you.

Bob, 72, is a 40-year Rotarian in Big Sandy, MT, where his father was a founding member. He now travels the world preaching his gospel of good farming, good food, good nutrition, good rural economies and healthier communities. Bob will be all dressed up in his soil-covered cowboy hat, Wrangler jeans, western shirt, work boots and thick leather belt, just for our ZOOM meeting.

Before this Friday’s meeting, be sure to pull out your Rotarian Magazine, March 2020 issue, page 34-47 and study up on Bob Quinn, PhD. Yes, that’s Bob on the cover. I told you he was a cover model! Join our ZOOM meeting this Friday at 11:30, you’ll be glad you did!

The Rotary Office received the following "Thank You" note from Shannon English Hexamer, Board Chair with Stark County Diaper Bank

"Dear Canton Rotary Members,

While a diaper is small, diaper need is no small concern.

Your generous donation of $1,500.00 to the Stark County Diaper Bank will make a huge impact on families in Stark County.  Each dollar donated purchases six diapers and benefits a child in our community.  Your donation has purchased nearly 10,000 diapers!

The Stark County Diaper Bank is run by volunteers and 100% of your donation goes to purchase diapers and supplies.
