SUE GRABOWSKI, ENTREPRENEUR, OWNER/CEO OF DESIDARA, ADVERTISING AGENCY

Sue Grabowski has grown a marketing communications firm from a one-person shop to a flourishing, process-driven organization, Desidara, which serves local, regional, national and international clients. She leads a team of talented strategists, writers, artists and technology creators to craft the right messages and deliver those messages to target audiences through a variety of media forms.

4-WAY TEST SPEECH CONTEST RESULTS

At our last Friday meeting on February 3, 2023, we held our Annual 4-Way Test Speech Contest.

Due to availability issues, we had only two contestants this year, both from McKinley High School.

Suffice it say that both young ladies did a phenomenal job!

Here are the results:

1st Place: Chloe Hall, $300 prize
2nd Place: Kassandra Ketchum, $200 prize

Ms. Hall will represent the Rotary Club of Canton at the District 6650 4-Way Speech Contest on April 1, 2023 at Arrowhead Golf Club 9 AM to 1 PM.

Good luck Chloe!
CANTON ROTARY HELPS WITH EAST PALESTINE RELIEF AID!

Following a plea by our very own District Governor Michelle Charles for aid for those displaced by the derailment in East Palestine, a van load of food, diapers, hygiene supplies, stuffed animals and other goodies was driven from Wooster by Wooster Rotarian Joe Szeker (also Director of Operations at People to People Ministries in Wayne County) to the parking lot at the Eric Snow YMCA in downtown Canton (thanks Canton Rotarian Rich Micelli and staff). There a certain Canton Rotarian met Joe and transferred all of the stuff to his Honda CR-V (thing holds quite a lot, really!)

From there, the goods went on a road trip to St. Jude Catholic Church Activity Center, where it was once again transferred to another vehicle, driven over by a couple from East Palestine, to be given to some of the agencies that were providing aid to those displaced by the train derailment last week.

Canton Rotary is proud to support this effort to help our fellow Ohioans in a time of crisis.

(Editor's note: that certain Canton Rotarian SUCKS at taking selfies!)

Which Paul Will You See In February?????

Help motivate President-Elect Paul Hervey to lose weight while helping to raise money for the Charitable Fund (note: this is our Annual Charitable Fund Drive!) Your donation depends upon how much weight Hervey loses. (Hint: he could stand to lose a lot!)

Bonus: If we raise $20,000, Past Presidents Mark Clendenin and Drew Pelger have volunteered to take the Polar Bear Plunge in February!

Let’s work together to make it happen! You can fill out and return this form or send in your pledge to Paul (paul@hervey.co, 330-704-2935).

HOW DID OUR VERY FIRST WEDNESDAY EVENING MEETING GO?

I am happy to report that our very first Wednesday Evening Meeting at the Conestoga Grill was GREAT!

We had a total of 25 members and guests in attendance, pretty much blowing away our expectations!

We also collected $24 in Happy Bucks, many of which were given by people happy to be at that meeting, at that venue, on that night at that time!

Past President Drew Pelger gave us a rundown on the many projects we've run over the years, the agencies we've supported, and the many contributions the Rotary Club of Canton has made to our local community, as well as communities around the world!

Those are all of the things that make it special to be a member of the Rotary Club of Canton, which we hope we be proud of and which we should all share with others in our community that want to do good things in the world, learn leadership skills and have fun!

We hope you will join us on Wednesday 2/22/23 at our next Evening Meeting (location to be announced!)
