HALL OF FAME GENERAL CHAIR GUY RUDA AND GENERAL VICE-CHAIR DOUG FROELICH WILL SPEAK FRIDAY

General Chairman Guy Ruda                          General Vice Chairman Doug Froelich

Two long-time community volunteers will again take the top leadership positions for the 2018 festivities that will celebrate the annual enshrinement of the new class into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Guy Ruda will serve as General Chairman, while Doug Froelich will provide support and assistance as General Vice Chairman.

Ruda and Froelich will lead a combined corps of volunteers to help provide a world-class experience to the hundreds of thousands of fans who will descend upon Canton for the 2018 Enshrinement Festival, that includes Enshrinement Week.

Ruda, a 34-year volunteer, is an effective mentor, and provides leadership to his volunteer team by adhering to a favorite motto, "People never improve unless they look to some standard or example higher and better than themselves." Ruda's service includes having time as the General Chairman of the Enshrinement Festival, Enshrinement Committee, and chairperson of Enshrinement and NFL Experience committees. Ruda and his wife Gail are the proud parents of David and Danielle.

Froelich graduated from North Canton Hoover High School, Kent State University, and Ashland University.  A 27-year Enshrinement Festival volunteer, Froelich has served on the Hall of Fame Hospitality and Enshrinement Committees and the 50th Anniversary Committee, and has chaired the Balloon Classic Committee as well as chairman of the Security and Logistics Committee. Froelich's extensive volunteer efforts have been guided by his definition of volunteerism, "Giving of your time, talents, and resources without expectation of reward."

MILITARY FAMILY CENTER FESTIVAL - FRIDAY AUGUST 10TH

Located in the beautiful countryside of Louisville, the Military Family Center is a comprehensive, community–based organization, established to meet the critical needs of veterans, active duty military and first responders and their families.

Rotary has partnered with Pegasus Farm, a respected therapeutic equestrian center, to provide equine activities as a proven, effective treatment for post-traumatic stress syndrome, brain injury, and other physical and emotional conditions.

We are proud to be hosting a family fun festival in support of these valued services and invite you to join us on Friday, August 10th for an evening of live music (featuring Rotarian Craig Young and Bandog), great food by Mission BBQ (kids 12 and under eat for free!), a petting zoo, car show and many fun activities for kids and adults.

Our military and first responders have the hardest jobs in the world.  Let’s show our support and say thank you by visiting the Military Family Center Festival, at 5495 Meese Road in Louisville – Friday, August 10th from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM.  View this LINK for a printable version of the flyer. JOIN --THE $1,000 CHALLENGE MATCH
I was looking for new material for our July 20 meeting, so I asked several Rotarians: “Why are you supporting the $1000 Rotaplast Challenge Match to change lives?”

Tim Franta told me that he has a daughter who was born with a cleft palate. He and his wife lived through the multitude of challenges that healing the cleft palate brought…and that was in the US! Just think about the HELL that children in under-developed countries with cleft palates go through.

Here is Becky Clark’s thoughts: “I closed my eyes and visualized one of my grandchildren or a friend’s beautiful child. Then opened my eyes and saw a face damaged by a cleft palate. I knew then that I had to do something to support Rotaplast.”

Our July 20th announcement was the last announcement about Rotaplast from the podium.

Our campaign in support of changing lives through Rotaplast has two goals:

          * Fully utilization of the $1000 Challenge Match.
          * Have some fun trying to surpass what North Canton Rotary has done to date.

So where do we stand? Thus far, 15 Rotarians have pledged their support.

• The FULL $1000 Challenge Match has been CAPTURED!
• But, unfortunately, we were 18% short of hitting our goal vs. North Canton.

Surpassing North Canton means changing the lives of 3 additional young children.

However, I am confident that there are enough Canton Rotarians to assure we will zoom past North Canton's donation!
