Summer lunch meetings at Loby's

Malone and AVI had a sudden change in their summer cafeteria/catering schedules, so we will meet this summer for lunch on Fridays at Loby's new location at 2730 Cleveland Ave. NW. Please meet in the room off the bar to the left of the entrance. Program will go forward as normal, although Zoom link will be an amateur production.:) Please order off the menu and you will be billed separately.

Welcome to Douglas Froelich, who has applied for membership in Canton Rotary!

Doug lives in North Canton and is a retired Green school teacher whom you may know as the past chairman of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshirnement Committee. His sponsor is Dave Ewing, who went to school with Doug's mother!

Pursuant to our by-laws, any member may object to Doug's application within seven days by submitting a written notice to the club.

Dues are due!

Please remember to pay your 2024-25 dues by Sunday, June 30, in advance of the new fiscal year. We must pay Rotary International for all listed members as of July 1. Please contact Tom Clevenger (705-9941) if there is a question or problem.

Speaker chairs and invocators needed

As we get ready to start the new Rotary year on July 1, please contact incoming vice president Drew Pelger (309-8517) to volunteer to be a monthly speaker chair (usually first and third Fridays) and/or to give invocation (just state which Fridays of certain months you want).

July schedule

We will NOT meet July 5 because of the holiday. We will be back at Loby's July 12 for our "changeover" meeting and introduction of new board members and officers. VP Wilbur Allen has lined up speakers for July 19 and 26.

Golf outing July 29

Our annual golf outing is scheduled for Monday, July 29, 2024 at Arrowhead Golf Club in North Canton in conjunction with the Plain Rotary. Anyone interested in volunteering should contact Andrew Oser (412-4157).

Greetings from Evanston!

We are pleased to announce new hosting opportunities under the Open World Program during the 2025 calendar/hosting year, which will mark the twenty-sixth anniversary of Rotary’s participation in the program.

The Open World Program is available to Rotary/Rotaract clubs in the United States and provides an opportunity to build fellowship and friendship to strengthen international understanding by hosting emerging Eurasian leaders from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Estonia, Georgia, Hungary, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Mongolia, North Macedonia, Papua New Guinea, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Solomon Islands, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Vanuatu and Vietnam in your community.

Rotary/Rotaract clubs are needed to host six-participant delegations for eight days and nights and prepare a professional program related to business, community, and civic life in the United States.

The program focuses on developing a network of leaders who have an understanding of how American communities deal with contemporary issues and want to maintain contact with their new American contacts and other counterparts. Often, these collaborations lead to service projects between Rotary clubs in the two countries.

The Open World program, operated by the Congressional Office for International Leadership (COIL) an independent U.S. federal agency, is a special program available to Rotary/Rotaract clubs in the United States through a grant secured by Rotary International. Please review the Rotary Open World brochure for more information.

Rotary International (RI) serves as a national host organization, with Rotary clubs serving as local hosts for Open World delegations. Rotary clubs in 290 cities and 48 states have hosted over 4,000 of all 31,000 Open World participants throughout these years. RI can reimburse participating clubs for many of their hosting expenses through Open World grants.

Is your Rotary Club interested in working on an international project, hosting six Open World participants for eight days/nights, and willing to develop an intensive week of events based on a selected Open World theme? If yes, then the Open World Program would be perfect for your club. Please complete the Host Registration Form and email the completed form to OpenWorld@rotary.org by Monday, 12 August or sooner.

Alzheimer's Awareness Month

June marks an important time for all of us as we recognize Alzheimer's and the significant impact it has on individuals, families, and communities.

June marks an important time for all of us as we recognize Alzheimer's and the significant impact it has on individuals, families, and communities.

At the Alzheimer's / Dementia Rotary Action Group (ADRAG), we are dedicated to raising awareness, providing support, and fostering hope for those affected by these challenging conditions.

Our mission at ADRAG is not just to bring attention to Alzheimer's but to mobilize action and resources that can lead to meaningful change. This month, we call upon you to join us in our efforts by supporting the initiatives and programs that ADRAG champions.

One way to support ADRAG is by encouraging others to become members. For a minimum annual donation of $25, individuals can join ADRAG and help us in our mission to assist those living with Alzheimer's and dementia. Membership not only supports our initiatives but also connects members with a network of individuals committed to making a difference.

Additionally, members can take an active role by organizing fundraising activities. By filling out the ADRAG fundraising request form, we provide the tools and resources needed to run various fundraising events on behalf of ADRAG. Creativity and dedication can make a significant impact in raising funds and awareness.

Another powerful way to make a difference is by participating in a Community Benefit Business Network (CBBN). The concept of the CBBN echoes the very principles upon which Rotary was founded. When Paul Harris established Rotary in 1905, his vision was to create a network of professionals who could exchange ideas and form meaningful, lasting friendships while making a positive impact on their communities. The Community Benefit Business Networks we are developing today are a modern extension of this vision, fostering collaboration between businesses and Rotary to drive community support and development.

CBBNs are innovative business networks being established by Rotary Districts nationwide. These networks involve local businesses that commit to contributing a portion of the proceeds from their products and services to causes supported by Rotarians, such as ADRAG. By doing so, they create a sustainable flow of funds that can significantly bolster our efforts to combat Alzheimer's and dementia.

We are excited to announce that ADRAG is actively seeking to collaborate with Districts to set up CBBNs in their areas. Through our partnership with Our Mayberry, the platform driving these networks, we aim to create robust, community-focused initiatives that leverage local business contributions to support our cause.
