Pack the Bus June 12
Please help us Thursday, June 12, downtown on Centennial Plaza from 4 to 6 pm as we "pack the bus" with food items to support Canton school students throughout the year.  We will have a collection truck to take needed goods (or monetary donations).  We also have a district grant to support this project, which helps fill backpacks that are sent home on weekends and school breaks with children in need.  If you want to volunteer at the bus next Thursday, please let Jennie George know.  You can also go to the Rotary website and make a donation earmarked for this program and we will make sure that it is used to supplement the food donations.
Summer lunch meetings at Loby's
Malone and AVI had a sudden change in their summer cafeteria/catering schedules, so we will meet this summer for lunch on Fridays at Loby's new location at 2730 Cleveland Ave. NW.  Please meet in the room off the bar to the left of the entrance.  Program will go forward as normal, although Zoom link will be an amateur production.:)  Please order off the menu and you will be billed separately.
District Conference
District 6650's annual conference will be held on Saturday, June 15 at the KSU-Stark Conference Center from 8:30 am to 4 pm.  Early bird registration is $25 and is available online.

There will be a presentation from Larry Kenmore, North American Rotary Action Group for Addiction Preventions representative to the UNDOC, on the use of Naloxone.  The training is free, but you must register separately online.

The Kick Off Social will be Friday, June 14, at Royal Docks Brewing in Oakwood Square from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.

Philomatheon picnic this Saturday
Rotary volunteers will be working this Saturday, June 15, from 3 to 7 pm at the annual Philomatheon Society picnic at its Tuscarawas Avenue offices.  Volunteers should confirm with Steve Fettman (330-354-6911) to help grill, set up, and clean up at the event.
Speaker chairs and invocators needed
As we get ready to start the new Rotary year on July 1, please contact incoming vice president Drew Pelger (309-8517) to volunteer to be a monthly speaker chair (usually first and third Fridays) and/or to give invocation (just state which Fridays of certain months you want).
Hearing Aid project
A message from our benevolent overlord (aka the district governor).  If anyone would like to spearhead this for our club (or the district), please reach out to Paul.

While on the Guatemalan Hearing Mission, an interesting idea was discussed as a possible Club project, requiring very little effort but realizing a substantial benefit. Gently used hearing aids can be refurbished, used for parts, or donated as is.  People using hearing aids often need to have them changed every few years. If we contact assisted living facilities and funeral homes, they might be willing to act as a collection point for unneeded hearing aids. Many people or families have no idea as to what to do with unneeded hearing aids and would be happy to donate them.

Clubs might contact assisted living facilities and funeral homes to get partners.  The Club would provide a contact person and, possibly, a supply of zip lock snack bags for storage.  When an adequate number are collected, they can be collected by the contact person and forwarded to the Hearing Mission Foundation.

It could be a great opportunity to make a difference, with minimal effort. Please suggest this project to your Board. Please feel free to contact me with questions or thoughts.
