STARK COUNTY PROSECUTING ATTORNEY KYLE STONE TO SPEAK THIS FRIDAY
Kyle L. Stone has deep roots in the Stark County community. He is a Canton native and 2001 graduate of Canton McKinley Senior High School. He went on to obtain a BA in Law &Liberal Arts from The University of Findlay and shortly thereafter obtained a Masters in Public Administration from The University of Akron. He is also an ordained pastor and holds a Masters degree in Ministry from Temple Baptist Seminary.
 
Stone was elected as Stark County Prosecuting Attorney in November of 2020.
Prior to this role, he tried numerous cases as a criminal defense attorney.
 
Prosecutor Stone enjoys spending time with his family and friends, specifically his daughter Keyana, and his granddaughter Brooklyn Nicole.

MARCH 19, 2021 ZOOM/IN-PERSON NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
 
 
At our Zoom meeting on March 19, 2021, President Drew Pelger opened the meeting by welcoming a total of 24 Canton Rotarians (live at John's Bar and also via Zoom), as well as our guest speakers,  Canton McKinley High School Speech and Debate Director, Manuel Halkias and McKinley High School Four Way Test contestants, Anastasia Allison, Guenevere Berrie and Gracie Cribbs.

Interesting historical facts for the day:
  • 1911 The first international Women’s Day was observed.
  • 1918 US Congress approved daylight savings time
  • 1931 Nevada state legislature votes to legalize gambling
  • 1953 The Academy Awards was televised for the first time with Bob Hope as the MC
  • 1994 The Worlds largest omelet was made in Yokohama, Japan, using 160,000 eggs
 
Rotary Fun Facts:
In 1922 a small Rotary flag was carried over the South Pole by Admiral Richard Byrd, a member of the Winchester, Virginia Rotary Club.  Four years later the Admiral carried a Rotary flag in his expedition to the North Pole.

President Drew announced that this year's golf outing is scheduled for June 18, 2021 at The Sanctuary Golf Club.

Since our annual Canton Rotary Oktoberfest was cancelled due to COVID, we are selling the Canton Rotary Brew Card to raise funds for the Canton Rotary Charitable Fund.
 
The Brew Card provides discounts on food and/or merchandise at nine (9) local and regional breweries and brewpubs.
 
These cards are valid through June 30, 2021, so as vaccines roll out and folks feel it is safer to visit these breweries, the cards will still be valid!
