Dr. Sarah Tegtmeier recently joined Red Star Veterinary Clinic in June of 2020. She is a 2019 graduate of The Ohio State University and spent her first year of practice as an equine intern at Allegheny Equine near Pittsburgh, PA. Previously, Dr. Sarah attended the University of Findlay prior to veterinary school. Her professional interests include equine reproduction and lameness, small animal internal medicine, and both equine and small animal nutrition. Dr. Sarah enjoys endurance riding, running, reading, gardening, kayaking, and camping in her free time. She also enjoys traveling and home projects with her husband, Danny and spending time with their two horses, two dogs, and three cats.
At our Zoom meeting on February 5, 2021, President Drew Pelger, opened the meeting by welcoming a total of 32 Canton Rotarians (live at John's Bar and also via Zoom), Massillon Rotarian, Richard Regula, and our speakers, Randall and Kristy Pero.
Secretary Paula Mastroianni, presented some interesting historical facts for the day and announced the following Rotary History: In 1911 Paul Harris gave Chelsey Perry a budget of $25 to $44 to mimeograph and mail their new publication, The National Rotarian, to the 2000 Rotarians in the 23 clubs nationwide.
Paula also received "Happy Bucks" from PP Michelle Charles, PP Craig Young, PDG, PP Bob Pattison, Mark Clendenin, Ernie Schott, Lynn Hamilton, Sam Shaheen and PP Paul White.
February Program Chair, Theresa Blocher, introduced our speakers, Randall & Kristy Pero, from Pero Dairy Farm.
Incoming Rotary International President Shekhar Mehta urged members to become more involved in service projects, saying that caring for and serving others is the best way to live because it changes not only other people’s lives, but also our own.
Mehta, a member of the Rotary Club of Calcutta-Mahanagar, West Bengal, India, revealed the 2021-22 presidential theme, Serve to Change Lives, to incoming district governors on 1 February during the Rotary International Assembly. The assembly, a yearly training event for district governors-elect, was originally set to take place in Orlando, Florida, USA, but was held virtually because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Rotary International Convention, scheduled for 12-16 June 2021, in Taipei, Taiwan, will now be a virtual event in response to the ongoing threat of COVID-19. This decision, made by the Rotary Board of Directors, is necessary to protect the health of everyone involved.
A virtual convention is a wonderful way to experience all that Rotary has to offer, from the comfort and convenience of your home.
Since our annual Canton Rotary Oktoberfest was cancelled due to COVID, we are selling the Canton Rotary Brew Card to raise funds for the Canton Rotary Charitable Fund.
