Catered lunch this Friday $14
Malone's cafeteria is closed this Friday, but AVI will have catered lunches for us (turkey/bacon or ham/swiss sandwiches, sides, dessert, and bottled water).  Cost is $14.  Please come to the Dueble meeting room and pay Treasurer Tom when you arrive (preferably by credit or debit card).  The cafeteria will be closed, so you may have to walk down and around to get to the meeting room, which will be open early for "social hour."  (If you are a door greeter, please walk through and then prop the cafeteria door open for the others to avoid the stairs.)
Board meeting May 23
The Board of Trustees will meet live and by Zoom on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at 5:30 pm at Paul's office (4700 Dressler Ave. NW).  We will be working on the annual budget.
Grab, Go, and Grow at Canton Y June 1
The Stark County Community Action Agency's Grab, Go, and Grow event is back on June 1 and is looking for volunteers to work two-hour shifts starting at either 10:30 am or 12:30 pm. Golf outing July 29
Our annual golf outing is scheduled for Monday, July 29, 2024 at Arrowhead Golf Club in North Canton in conjunction with the Plain Rotary.  Anyone interested in volunteering should contact Paul Hervey.
Door greeters needed
We need to get back to our pre-COVID door greeting if for no other reason than to help our guests navigate Malone and our members avoid going up and down stairs to get to the cafeteria.

We are looking for a rotating group to volunteer to set up at the north entrance and at the cafeteria "locked" doors every Friday at 11:40 am until noon to direct traffic, greet guests, and let members into the cafeteria.  Please contact VP Wilbur Allen if you are willing to be part of the group.  (Hey, 11 am lunch crowd!  How about you guys?)
District Conference
District 6650's annual conference will be held on Saturday, June 15 at the KSU-Stark Conference Center from 8:30 am to 4 pm.  Early bird registration is $25 and is available online.

There will be a presentation from Larry Kenmore, North American Rotary Action Group for Addiction Preventions representative to the UNDOC, on the use of Naloxone.  The training is free, but you must register separately online.

The Kick Off Social will be Friday, June 14, at Royal Docks Brewing in Oakwood Square from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.

Hearing Aid project
A message from our benevolent overlord (aka the district governor).  If anyone would like to spearhead this for our club (or the district), please reach out to Paul.

While on the Guatemalan Hearing Mission, an interesting idea was discussed as a possible Club project, requiring very little effort but realizing a substantial benefit. Gently used hearing aids can be refurbished, used for parts, or donated as is.  People using hearing aids often need to have them changed every few years. If we contact assisted living facilities and funeral homes, they might be willing to act as a collection point for unneeded hearing aids. Many people or families have no idea as to what to do with unneeded hearing aids and would be happy to donate them.

Clubs might contact assisted living facilities and funeral homes to get partners.  The Club would provide a contact person and, possibly, a supply of zip lock snack bags for storage.  When an adequate number are collected, they can be collected by the contact person and forwarded to the Hearing Mission Foundation.

It could be a great opportunity to make a difference, with minimal effort. Please suggest this project to your Board. Please feel free to contact me with questions or thoughts.

Lunch meetings now at Malone and on Zoom
Lunch meetings are back to EVERY FRIDAY at noon at Malone's Brehme Centennial Event Center and always available via our Zoom Link.

Drive to the north parking lot above the Brehme Center and overlooking King Athletic Field.  Enter the building and walk through the hallway into Malone's cafeteria.  Pay for your meal ($9) and get your food, then join us in the south conference room.  If you arrive after 11:50 am, there may be a line of students waiting to pay.  Grab your food and remember to pay before you leave.

The second Friday of every month will be devoted to "club business" and be "speakerless."
