TODD PUGH, FOUNDER AND CEO OF TODD'S ENVIROSCAPES, INC. TO SPEAK THIS FRIDAY
Todd Pugh is a 1990 graduate of Louisville High School and a 1996 graduate of The Ohio State University, where he achieved a “top 10” outstanding senior award in the school of Agriculture. Todd would not be where he is today without the help and support of his wife, Anna, and their three children: Elizabeth, Lindsey, and Maverick.

At the young age of fourteen, Todd began mowing lawns to earn money for a new pair of basketball shoes. He could not drive at the time due to his age and, as a result, he was often seen around town with his borrowed family tractor with which he pulled his lawn mower and trailer.  By the time Todd was a senior in high school he had over 50 residential customers.

Strong business values and ethics have enabled Enviroscapes to grow from one $5.00 per week mowing customer into a multi-million-dollar landscape company that ranks in the Top 150 of all such companies nationwide. Enviroscapes is recognized for winning multiple national and state landscape awards, along with business and innovation awards. Todd and the Enviroscapes group believe in giving back to the community and are very philanthropic. He also believes that "teamwork makes the dream work".

Enviroscapes has multiple branches located throughout Ohio and specializes in: Landscape Construction, Landscape Maintenance, Snow Removal, Erosion Seeding and Utility Work/Reclamation, plus more. Enviroscapes' headquarters in Louisville sits on 28 acres, with branches in Akron, Austintown, Boardman, Canton, and Columbus.  You can learn more about Enviroscapes at www.growinggood.com

MARCH 5, 2021 ZOOM/IN-PERSON NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

At our Zoom meeting on March 5, 2021, President Drew Pelger opened the meeting by welcoming a total of 37 Canton Rotarians (live at John's Bar and also via Zoom), as well as our guest speaker, Dr. Celia Williamson and perspective member, Ryan Robinson.

Becky Clark presented the following interesting historical facts for the day:
  • 1964 - boxing great Cassius Clay changes his name to Muhammad Ali
  • 1967 - Jimmy Hoffa enters Lewisville Federal prison
  • 1967 - PBS begins broadcasting in Dawson, GA
  • 1972 - Jack Nicholas passes Arnold Palmer as golf's all time money winner
  • 1981 - Walter Cronkite signs off as anchorman of CBS evening news
Becky Clark also presented the following quote for the day and asked if anyone could guess who this person was:

It is utterly impossible for me to build my life on a foundation of chaos, suffering and death.
I see the world being slowly transformed into a wilderness, I hear approaching thunder that,
one day, will destroy us too.  I feel the suffering of millions.  And yet, when I look up at the sky,
I somehow feel that everything will change for the better, that this cruelty, too, shall end, that
peace and tranquility will return once more.

*Anne Frank was 14 when she wrote this in her diary, and died one year later on July 15, 1944 in a concentration camp.

Becky Clark received "Happy Bucks" from President Drew Pelger, Paul Hervey, Jon Adland, Mark Clendenin, Bob Matthews, Sam Shaheen, Michelle Charles and PDG/PP Bob Pattison.

ROTARY FUN FACTS
HOW DID ROTARY GET ITS NAME?

The early members chose the name 'Rotary' because initially they rotated subsequent weekly club meetings to each other's offices. However, within a year, the Chicago club had grown so large that it became necessary to adopt the now-common practice of a regular meeting place.
