Bill Smuckler wears two hats in the community – owner of a local business and long-time member of Canton City Council.
Bill is a Canton native and a graduate of Oakwood High School and Bowling Green State University. Along with his brother Howard, he has been co-owner of Canton Hotel & Restaurant Supply since 1982. They not only are a locally-owned small business, but deal daily with many of the region’s small business operators, giving them insight into the local service business marketplace.
Bill has also been a member of city council since 1984 (with a few short breaks). He has been a ward councilman, at-large councilman, council president, and is currently majority leader. Some of his focuses on city council have included a joint development district with Jackson Township, community policing, downtown redevelopment, and rental exterior maintenance.
Bill is also a husband, father, grandfather, and middling golfer (Editor's note: this last golfing assessment provided by Vice President Paul Hervey.)
