On Monday, July 30th, the Rotary office received a phone call from a woman who had participated in the Health Screen & Wellness Fair we hosted this past April. She stated she had her blood drawn there and her results sent to her doctor. Her doctor contacted her and asked where she had her blood screened, and she replied, "The Rotary Club of Canton's Health Fair". The doctor asked her to please have her blood retested immediately. From the initial screening at our Health Screen in April, she was diagnosed with Acute Leukemia. She told the Rotary office she was on her third round of chemo and doing well. Upon asking her doctor what would have happened if she had not had her blood tested at our Rotary Health Screen, her doctor replied, "You would have dropped dead in two months due to your low blood cell count".
