At our Zoom meeting on June 11, 2021, President-Elect Mark Clendenin, filling in for a traveling President Drew, welcomed a total of 34 Canton Rotarians (live at John's Bar and also via Zoom), as well as our guest speaker, Stark County Commissioner Janet Creighton, and guests of the club, James Elsfelder and Massillon Rotarian (and County Commissioner), Richard Regula.

Interesting historical facts for the day:
- 1776 – The Continental Congress created the committee to draft the Declaration of Independence. Members included Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Ben Franklin, Roger Sherman and Robert Livingston.
- 1898 – Spain declared war against the US, beginning the Spanish-American War.
- 1979 – Iconic American film actor, John Wayne, died.
- 1982 – Everybody remembers these iconic words spoken by an out-of-this-world being that still live on today, "Phone home." The movie classic, ET, was released on this day.
- 2001 – Timothy McVeigh, The Oklahoma City bomber, was executed. It was then the worst terrorist act in US history killing 168 people.
- 2002 – American Idol premiers on FOX.
- 2009 – The WHO declares the H1N1 swine flu to be a global pandemic, the first such incident in over 40 years.
Bizarre Fact:
What the Queen wants, the Queen gets: on this day in 1964, Queen Elizabeth ordered the Beatles to perform at her birthday. They complied.
