WEEKLY MEETING NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS -FS

At our weekly meeting on October 17, 2014, President Elect Paul White asked members to keep the following Rotarians in their prayers:  Pat Gannon who is dealing with esophageal issues and George Davidson who has been admitted to the ICU.

 

Paul then made an announcement on behalf of Youth Exchange Chair Woman Amy Mustafaga there is a need for a Rotarian to transport the Youth Exchange students for an overnighter.  The transportation for drop off is needed for Saturday, October 25th and pickup on Sunday, October 26th.  Anyone who can help is asked to contact either Amy (330) 837-4555 or the Rotary office (330) 452-2882.

 

Paul then brought the members up to date on the Charitable Fund.  He had a large "thermometer" sign which showed an amount of $7,280.00 which has been donated to date.  Paul is asking the membership to please help him reach his goal of $12,000.00.

 

President Elect Paul informed the members about the two flyers they received when they arrived to the meeting.  The first flyer was in regards to the Foundation Celebration (please see story).  

 

Paul then asked Club Administrator, Lauri Coy, to step to the podium to relay information pertaining to the second flyer regarding the Club Roster book.  Lauri stated "This year it has been decided due to the time and cost to prepare the directories that the membership is being asked to print their own hard copy from Clubrunner.  The flyer provided gives the instructions on how to access the site.  (**Please follow this link to view the flyer if you were unable to attend the meeting and need these directions.) Any member who is having problems with this process are asked to contact the Rotary office for further instructions.  For the cost of $5.00 the office would be willing to print a copy for you."

 

Paul then asked the members if they are attending or planning on bringing a guest to the Canton/Massillon rally meeting on October 31st we need to have their RSVP into the Rotary office as soon as possible.  A head count for seating and food will need to be provided to Massillon in the next few days.

 

Club Secretary Amanda Tietze welcomed the following guest to our meeting:  Stephen Burt.  

 

The "Happy Bucks" news was then provided by the following Rotarians: Becky Clark was "happy" when her 10 year old granddaughter stated to her "it bothers her that popularity on Facebook and Twitter is based on how many followers a person has."  Her granddaughter then relayed she had read in her school magazine that "Christ had 12 disciples and Hitler had a million followers";  Tim Franta announced he was happy he had cataract surgery on his second eye, but now that he can "see" he now knows what Frank Fleischer really looks like.; Dan Matthews stated he was happy he has "zero" followers on twitter; Rick Taylor gave a follow up to his last week's "happy news" that the Browns beat the Steelers significantly.; Suzette Matthews was happy that Chris Burt's son joined us as a guest today.
